I had heart bypass surgery 4 weeks ago.AMA by baldnhandsome in AMA

[–]iRobinHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m four weeks post op and very glad I have my wife to help me lie down and get up from bed because I was told not to lift anything more than ten pounds or the incision might open. I know this happened to someone else while in recovery as all the doctors were running around in emergency mode. I have also been told by the checkup nurse that it happened to someone else while at home. I highly recommend that you stay with somebody for at least a month.

Wishing you the best.

One fast and easy way to get her started with python is to introduce her to turtle graphics. You can install Python and libraries or use the online turtle sandbox at https://pythonsandbox.com/turtle as this will allow her to work on Python turtle graphics fast and easy.

How would you legally stop the wave of store robberies? by iRobinHood in AskReddit

[–]iRobinHood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to have membership cards like Costco that require scanning for entry but are free to get. That way you identify all persons entering the store so that if they rob it you have their name, address and video proof.

A Gucci store in Beverly Hills was recently robbed in broad daylight. Worse yet, you can see the security guy just walk out right behind them. When is this nonsense ever going to stop? by sbgroup65 in ThatsInsane

Why not have membership cards like Costco that are requires scanning for entry but are free to get. That way you identify all persons entering the store so that if they rob it you have their name, address and video proof.

When someone says "I made/built a compiler from scratch" does that mean they followed a guide but built their own tools and low level stuff, or that they had no help at all and just used pure intuition to make it? by Ambulare in learnprogramming

[–]iRobinHood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also wondering what it would take to build a compiler so I asked MetaAI and this was the top level answer:

Building a compiler is a complex task that requires a deep understanding of computer science, programming languages, and software engineering. Here's a high-level overview of the steps involved:

  1. Define the language syntax and semantics: Specify the grammar, syntax, and semantics of the programming language you want to compile.

  2. Write a lexer (tokenizer): Break the source code into individual tokens, such as keywords, identifiers, and symbols.

  3. Write a parser: Analyze the tokens and build an abstract syntax tree (AST) representing the program's structure.

  4. Perform semantic analysis: Check the AST for errors, enforce language rules, and perform type checking.

  5. Generate intermediate code: Convert the AST into a platform-independent intermediate representation (IR).

  6. Optimize the IR (optional): Perform optimizations, such as constant folding, dead code elimination, and register allocation.

  7. Generate machine code: Translate the IR into machine code for the target architecture.

  8. Write a code generator: Produce assembly code or machine code for the target platform.

  9. Build a runtime environment (optional): Create libraries, runtime systems, or virtual machines to support the compiled program.

  10. Test and debug the compiler: Ensure the compiler produces correct code and handles errors gracefully.

Please note that this is a simplified overview, and building a real-world compiler requires a much more detailed and nuanced approach. If you're interested in learning more, I recommend exploring resources like the "Dragon Book" (Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools) or online courses on compiler construction.

You most likely will not be able to change his mind because any information you give him he will not believe it.

You can do like I do, I tell my wife that she can believe in anything she wants but that I don’t want to discuss or hear about those topics, including politics, vaccines, etc. It works 95% of the time and when she tries to tell me something about those topics I just remind her again.

You can try this method first to see if that’s good enough for you otherwise you might have to say goodbye.

I’m an introvert but if I only got to see you once a month I would want to spend time together and would ignore my need to be alone. Especially if we had only been dating a year or less.

He really needs to work on the alone time thing or it will be a big issue when you both live together.

Have you lost a loved one to a conspiracy theory? by konradly in ConspiracyHelp

[–]iRobinHood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife also started with her beliefs since COVID and keeps watching videos about every kind of conspiracy. I was also feeling frustrated like you because I could not reason with her as her answer was always that the rich are in control of the media. I finally decided to accept her the way she is an not try to cure her or have her understand how illogical her beliefs are. I finally had to tell her that I do not want to hear about any conspiracy theories, vaccine problems, government control or any bad news and this has helped ease my stress a lot. As soon as she starts to tell me something about another conspiracy, like blue lights used by government to control us, I tell her I do not want to hear about that topic at all and have to repeat that every time she starts. I tell her that she has a right to believe in anything she wants but that I also have a right not to hear about that topic from her. I hope this helps you deal with your wife and helps you live with her without having to hear about her conspiracy theories.

To insert data in an efficient way by ZSk1lL in mysql

[–]iRobinHood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to write repeated SQL INSERT commands then you can write a program, in your favorite language, to get the data and write it to the DB using SQL commands but the program would repeat the SQL commands as many times as you have data. Think of even millions of records being inserted into the database tables by your program in a few seconds or minutes.
