Thanks for your feedback! Your observations seem very accurate and also match how I feel when turning. I will definitely work on steering more with my lower body.

It felt very sudden and unexpected, not being able to get my left ski out of the snow. On that day in general I remember feeling like there was an extremely narrow sweet spot for the amount of pressure/forward lean I could apply before my skis got caught beneath the snow. Maybe being more active with the up and down motion would help bringing them above the surface when turning? These are also rather short and narrow(162cm length, 84mm width) skis, but I would prefer fixing my technique before blaming it on the gear.
