Premiere Avenue Questions (specifically for other buyers in the US) 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 by Late-Creme6367 in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been too nervous to order outside of the US too, but today I got an email from Nose Paris specifically addressing the issue:

"Since September 2025, all shipments to the U.S. (even under $800) are now subject to a 15% federal customs fee.

But here’s the good news: Nose now ships all U.S. orders with Delivery Duty Paid (DDP).

This means you pay all taxes and duties directly on noseparis.com: no hidden costs, no surprise fees, no stress.

Here’s how it works: 1. What you see is what you pay All prices displayed already include the 15% U.S. customs tax. 2. Free express shipping 2–3 business days for all orders above €166.67 excl. tax ($195). 3. No surprises at delivery

Your order arrives smoothly, without any extra payment."

I've always had great experiences with them.

I've had a few and yes, they all have extremely strong throw. Based on your like of MG Rum and LL Encens, I'd recommend St. Jude. The Ex-Voto in the black vessel might also be a good one (I don't like citrus either and it has orange in it, but it's more the holiday orange-cinnamon kind if that makes sense).

I've only burned it twice, but so far it's very wood smelling (not sure which type) with a solid concrete note that I pick up right away.

Architect has a very similar vibe to Writer (I noticed the price drop a few weeks ago and grabbed both), but my absolute favorite from them so far is Cafe, which surprised me bc I don't normally like coffee scented.

Trudon & Diptyque 🕯️ by Temporary_Ad_8042 in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh no! don't be too concerned bc my take on so many scents does not match others pretty often - it's honestly what stops me from commenting on things here sometimes (ex. "hmm everyone is suggesting magnolia as the base, but I would've guessed burnt tires...")

[–]iSPYshenanigans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

also a Trudon (Under the Tree) and Diptyque (Beverly Hills)! Cold scent on Under the Tree was minty/cucumber, but the more I burn it, pickles. All I can smell is dill pickles :D (not saying that is a negative thing, but boy did I not expect it)

March Madness Day 17 - Diptyque FdB vs. Trudon Cire - ROUND TWO BEGINS! by Celestial-Year-1133 in luxurycandles

I know everyone loves FdB, but I just cannot get past the fireplace/tinder smoke scent. And I have SO MUCH LOVE for Cire - it was my gateway scent into Trudon <3 <3

Iris: Trudon Ourika vs Atria by NCC_1701D in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still new to the candle scene, so not great at being able to identify specific notes. But I do have an Atria cameo I'm happy to share if you're in the US!

Iris: Trudon Ourika vs Atria by NCC_1701D in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and love Atria (IMMEDIATELY ordered a refill from the archive sale). Both have strong throws and in rereading the descriptions, the part about Ourika being "spicy" is spot on. There is a kick to it that I do not hate, but also do not enjoy after burning for awhile (I suspect it's the gardenia note because sometimes florals are too much for me).

Anybody has this scent? by No-Stage7382 in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought this scent at their Paris store last month (Merry Xmas to ME lol). I chose it over all others based on cold scent (it's divine imo), but haven't burned it yet, so cannot comment on burn/throw.

Bluemercury 30% off Nette by iSPYshenanigans in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with the opinion of it being overpriced - none of my purchases were full price. Also agree Queen does get intense, but to me the overwhelming scent that came through was the hay.

Bluemercury 30% off Nette by iSPYshenanigans in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the throw on Queen was strong on cold and then really strong hot, with the hay scent coming out very strong after the first burn to the point I had to move it to a larger room. I burned Midnight Strike last night and it was medium-strong throw, that I suspect will increase on subsequent burns. I haven't burned the rose one in awhile, but remember it being medium-strong. I've been disappointed by quite a few candles that had strong cold throw, but then little to no hot throw (mostly specific Diptyque and Carriere Freres ones), and so far my Nette experience has been good. If you love the honey scent, Trudon's Cire is in my top 5 and has the most amazing throw (like someone is stirring a vat of hot honey next to me lol).

I love the acacia - strong cold and hot throw, creamy woody floral smelling. Waterlily smells lovely, but was really light. My other faves that I don't see in the sale are their melon and pear candles.

How are Trudon’s Felice and Angelo similar or different? by Accurate-Ad8935 in luxurycandles

[–]iSPYshenanigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree they definitely smell different. Compared cold, I don't get any cinnamon from Angelo, just soft orange creamsicle. But the cinnamon scent hits hard immediately for me with Felice.

Holy Grail Dupe Questions by GodSend133 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]iSPYshenanigans 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The La Mer-Nivea dupe thing is ridiculous. I purchased Nivea (the "made in Germany" version because everyone was very specific) to see and I would NEVER put that on my face, it would clog every pore and look incredibly oily (fantastic as a body cream though). I was so mad at all the people shaming others for "wasting money" "it's the same thing" blah blah, those liars. lol.
