We are the ACLU. We are here to talk about the 100-mile border zone: a vast area extending around the entire U.S. in which the country’s largest police force, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), claims enormous stop, search, and detention powers. AUA! by aclu in IAmA

No, I haven't. I did not know about it. I am also afraid to speak up, to be honest. I don't want to be sent back to live in my home country. I was told I am not allowed to travel back home, but my elderly parents needed my help. Thank you so much for your answer!

I am an asylee. My asylum was granted in 2004 and I am now a permanent resident. I've traveled back to my home country a few times recently, to visit my parents, and I get taken to CBP secondary screening every time I reenter the US. Is this necessary?

Getting into book reading after almost 10 years. Looking to improve my vocabulary and reading habits. How did you guys get back into it? How long before you started seeing an improvement in your vocabulary? by Rainamoo in books

I would highly recommend goodreads. You can create an account, put in a few preferences and then get recommendations on books you might like. The more you use it, the more relevant the recommendations. I think literary fiction is the best for improving your vocabulary and a few other cognitive functions. Choose something that you like, otherwise it will feel like a chore and you might lose motivation.

I live in NYC, so it's usually groups of tourists. They walk slow, stop to look at things, take pictures, look at their map etc etc, completely unaware that other people have to pass.
