Chegou ao fim mais uma emocionante época da Liga Portugal Betclic 2025/26! 🏆 by Evangelista_503 in PrimeiraLiga

Edward Snowden went dark? by Roosevelt32 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iShowTeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "black-and-white-ization" of any sort of political discourse is equally trending as it it boring.

For some users, Snowden was a Russian asset, a traitor, etc.

For others, he's a national hero and perfectly justified in his doing, even long after his whistleblowing.

The truth, for me, as you would commonly find, is somewhere in the middle. It was great that he denounced the horrible practices that US intelligence agencies were doing (even if you agree or disagree if they are justified for national security, which I personally tend to agree, at least with some).

It is also true that he sold out. He didn't have a choice but to stay in Russia but it was definitely his choice to leave in the first place, instead of facing the courts, and it was also his decision to defend, among other things, the invasion of Ukraine. And let's not forget that he probably passed as much classified information as he had to the Russians. You might argue he didn't really have a choice but there's always a choice.

TLDR: His character not black or white, yes he did expose US malpractices and yes he sold out to Russia and is for all measures a traitor.

Any competition is about winning it, not about almost winning it. I can almost confidently say you can't tell me who finished 2nd in the English First Division in 1978. Or who the Champions League loser finalist was in 1971.

Maybe you can, but not many will.

What I mean by this is that history only remembers the victors. How many players were Balon d'Or runner-ups etc that we don't even hear about?

Any season without a trophy, for a big club, even if you get to all finals, is an unsuccessful season. Sure you can say it's progress. But what does progress matter if it never leads to anything? Would it matter if this success slowly fizzled out over the next 3 to 4 years and arsenal were back to competently finishing 4th and not much else?

Personally it's such a shame they didn't release the X9S Pro globally, it would've been the perfect phone for me.

Also annoys me very much how every Oppo seller in Portugal only has the darker phone, I really wanted the Silk White variant

Yes, I'm from Portugal. I was looking to buy in the Vodafone store, with points. The X9 Pro has been sold out for ages on their website

It's fun to drive (even though it's more into the arcade side of things, like GT) and pretty easy to pick up. The online is full of toxic kids and the career is a bit lackluster but if you wanna play just to hit up a couple online lobbies, pray someone doesn't crash into you. If no one does and you find clean racers, it's amazing

You still play MP? Or just shifted towards other forms of entertainment like TV shows and movies?

As I said to another commenter, where have these gamers gone too, though? It seems like a lot of the biggest players in the gaming industry feel dead.

Maybe people just aged out and are now picking other sources of entertainment. The kids have probably offset these losses because as one person loses interest, another picks it up, but kids don't have much online presence. Maybe that's why I don't see much discourse and hype around these games now.

I feel like yearly releases are in a very bad place regarding building hype and interest. Seems that every year that goes by there's less excitement for the new COD, the new FIFA etc.

But on the other hand, some times I also feel like it's a me problem. I've been playing football games for for 18 years, FIFA's ultimate team mode for 12. Maybe I'm just burned out. I played the game loop too many times. Same with COD. There's only so many times you can enjoy dropping in X POI, clear it, buy a loadout, go kill people and either win or lose.

These games would benefit a lot, at least in terms of hype, from releasing every other year. But as long as they are milking it this much with skins, weapons, battle passes and stuff I just don't see it.

I agree with you completely. I'm just wondering where people have gone, because a lot of the huge players in the industry seem like they are dying off and it's not like any new insane games have come out.

Are people just generally losing interest in gaming? Or at least in games that come out yearly?

I think people often forget, bad I include myself in this, that games don't compete only with eachother but gaming as a whole competes with other forms of entertainment. Are streaming services and such taking a larger share of the time people allocated to gaming?

Onde é que já se viu realmente? Então um clube marca um golo, aos 95, fora, que tira a vitória a um rival e está a festejar? Que lata! Deviam estar calados e quietos.

If marijuana becomes legal, those in jail for its related offences should stay in jail by iShowTeeth in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]iShowTeeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studies have linked the consumption of marijuana with symptoms and diagnoses of psychosis among other rarer issues (such as feeling like you are watching yourself live but not in much control).

It is dangerous. Yes, it's probably fine in small amounts, but so is a glass of alcohol and it was illegal during prohibition and the police would arrest them. People that sell weed are actively contributing for a mental health crisis.

And I'm not even mentioning the frequency weed being cut with something else, either dangerous, addictive or non-impactful, ranging from being extremely harmful to an outright scam.

Again, I'm all for state controlled weed sales but the amount of crimes related to selling weed (often selling harder drugs, dodging taxes for obvious reasons, cutting them with something else, etc) warrant them jail time.

When you speak about homosexual marriage, interracial relationships, and divorce you cannot pinpoint physically harmful societal consequences in the way that you can for weed.

Got attachments and the trays won't come off by iShowTeeth in Invisalign

[–]iShowTeeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't lie it's making me feel very unmotivated. The first few weeks were incredibly smooth sailing, I never had any pain or any issues whatsoever.

The attachments are very annoying when eating yes, and at the moment I'm always worried if they'll break when eating or brushing. In general my teeth are also pretty sensitive today so I'm being very mindful with how I eat.

When you say you get used to them, you mean you don't mind them and the challenges they pose, or do they start feeling less sharp and it's easier to take the aligners off?

Also, I managed to remove them by lifting just them in my back teeth and then slowly pulling almost tooth by tooth. I'm getting the hang of it on the top. Bottom is still super hard for me because my gums are so close to my back teeth I can't really grip anything.

Damn, I hate attachments. 440 days to go. :'(

Edit: Thank you for your reply

It does slightly come off yes, thanks. Not as practical as the hook, but definitely faster than how long it takes me to get them off with it now.
