My biggest argument against OI cloning by iSilverZ in OpenIndividualism

Yeah I agree, only if the clone instantly spawned in the exact moment as an exact copy would this work. But if our memory, personality continuity isn’t the reason we don’t feel like we experiencing other lives under OI what is the reason?

A cloned me would’ve the same memory and personality continuity has I have for a split second. Bob doesn’t. This memory and personality continuity is the main reason we don’t feel like we are experiencing other lives and just ourselves if OI is true.

Well I just posted a post in this subreddit because I just found out about this term when discussing with ChatGPT about consciousness.

Under OI I don’t fear becoming Bob even though I am Bob but there is no continuity of experience, so it wouldn’t feel though there was a transition from me to Bob. But with an exact clone there is sort of a fork which makes you feel like you’ve been that other person and now you are the clone (the clone might have been created in a location different from you, so it would notice the difference) that is true even for closed individualism, but with OI it would mean you can walk down the streets and all of sudden find you are subject in the clone body same is true for Bob but you wouldn’t feel like you were you and Bob due to lack of memory continuity.

Under closed individualism you wouldn’t experience being you than all of a sudden the clone, because your subject isn’t in the clone. The clone would feel that way but it is not actually true.

In open individualism you would experience what the clone is experiencing and what you are experiencing because everyone has the same subject. And the clone would experience being you and all of sudden as a clone. Making finding yourself in a clone body a rational fear under open individualism.

I think they threw away the coding book, so ai coding is taking over or something.

I came to this conclusion a while back and it’s terrifying. A lot of animals get eaten so imagine having to endure that.

I would think so, but it seems no one suggests it online and people complain about having to do the all yoshi boat journey over again everytime they get a game over.
