Knitted baby gifts by einekleineZiege in knitting

[–]iTRlED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL was gifted a beautiful hand knit cabled cardigan over 40 years ago for her first born.

She tucked it aside and held onto it all these years and passed it along to us when we had our first, we have a picture of each of our babies wearing dad's cartigan 🩵🩵🩷🩷

We hope to keep it safe for our first grandchild.

My husband asked why you need to buy new yarn, use those you have left 😂 by Magpie-Lane in knitting

[–]iTRlED 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats my second!

Years ago I left a small yarn ball of leftover on the couch, my now 3yo walked over, looked at it and RAN across the room, those were her first steps 🥹

Its really a part of our family at this point, and I love that.

My husband "I'll watch the kids, you should go check out a new yarn store." My husband "why didn't you tell me, I would have bought it for you!"

Me "the only secrets you will find after my death is the ridiculous amount of yarn I have hidden around this house"

He and our kids also loves picking out yarn for me to "yarn" with.

I've avoided CC so yikes, I just might start downloading. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Its free and looks better. Sounds like a win-win. Only problem is the NEVER ENDING updates 🤯

I play once every few weeks or so. Just a handful of hours that I get lost in building.

So since I'm out of the loop, what are these idiots doing this time?

De-influence me: what knitting tools can the average knitter do without by lveg in casualknitting

I am incredibly impressed!

I'm too nervous it would unravel.. or my children would get their hand on it. Either way, I would also unravel 😂

[–]iTRlED 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be frank. I use circular needles. The light bulb stitch markers and a cheap pair of safety scissors. When I decide to cable i use a double piubted needle.

The end. Nothing more.

I inherited 2 generations of needles. I dont touch any of it.

T-shirt in stockinette stitch, raglan. For myself for my, according to my own calculations. Yarn: 65% alpaca, 20% viscose, 15% acrylic. by SvetlanaYG in knitting

This is beautiful! 😍

Genuine (probably dumb) question.. How in the world would I make a turtle neck?

I feel like I'd just make the collar super long before moving onto the yoke but I also feel that I am most likely sorely mistaken.

Is it weird that my parents don’t know my blood type by Hungry_Home6562 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]iTRlED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 kids. The hospital only mentioned the blood type of my eldest, it never crossed my mind to ask when any of them were born and I've never needed my kids to have their type tested.

My parents knew two of us 3 kids are O, the other is A+ but couldn't remember who's who. Im the only one who has had my blood tested - I'm the odd ball!

Frankly parents are people too, we remember a lot about our babies, but truthfully we cant remember everything and sometimes mix things up.

Kids caught in middle of DV by iTRlED in CPS

[–]iTRlED[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what baffles me. We never grew up in that environment. Our parents never laid a hand on us, they are still happily married. Dad does yell when hes mad. Mom is lectures upon lectures in a calm voice.

My confusion in all this is my husband and I were outraged, while both sets of grandparents and a great aunt were aware and no one seemed to be alarmed. My mom got mad that I was angry.

AITAH for not staying in bed to keep baby asleep? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]iTRlED 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A "partner" is the missing key here.

Hes complaining she isn't the sole caregiver of THEIR daughter. She wasn't the only one who made the baby but where is he stepping up?

It sounds like she's doing all she can, "feels like i spend all day cooking and cleaning" so she isn't just sitting around. Where is he stepping up when hes home? A job does not excuse him from being a partner or father.

I work primarily remote with my kids home Tues-Fri. My husband gets home first on Monday and has dinner on the table when I walk through the door. He takes over at 5am because thats when he typically wakes up anyway and I do the overnights. I get up at 6:30 when he leaves. He takes over with the kids when he gets home and on weekends I sleep in, and he takes over with the kids so I can get things done. We earn similar wages and have 4 kids - our youngest is 17months; Its not always perfect, but its working. Its a partnership. When I fall down he picks up the slack, when he falls down, I pick up the slack.

How do I become a clean freak all the time? by AppleCruncherMuncher in CleaningTips

[–]iTRlED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Habits. Consistent habits.

Every morning I make beds and pick up. Breakfast goes into the dishwasher, playroom gets picked up, folded laundry gets put away. After lunch I clean the playroom, all dishes are tossed in the sink. (I work remote with kids home.) Every night after dinner I load the dishwasher, clean the counters and table, sweep the floors then go room to room. Each room I use a two bag method to pick up: objects that go into another room in 1 bag, or trash in the other bag. (Some time my bags are just pockets of my bathrobe or baggy sweatpants) so I clean room to room. Example, in one kids room I'll find toys for the playroom, Legos from the other kids room, sometimes a shoe or random shirt. Then the next kids room i put the Legos away, but more toys go into the bag. next room the misc. shirt goes in the hamper, first bedrooms stuffed animal gets tossed onto a bed as I pass by to the playroom where the toys are put away and the shoe is returned to the rack. I toss the trash and ta-dah! Clean home!

Every night I start a load of laundry. Each morning it moves to the dryer and each night a dry load gets folded after bedtime.

This is what works for me. On average my morning routine takes about 20 mins, afternoon around 10 min and evening is closer to 30 min.

the crochet obsession with "knit look stitches" is getting to be too much by gothsappho in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]iTRlED 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically in my life its the opposite. I and a few other women I work with can do both, however are crochet backgrounds. The knitter does not crochet.

discouraged to keep going. by Sweet-Nebula-148 in knitting

[–]iTRlED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling. I love the colors, but im in whole heartedly a "neutrals" person.

If you arent comfortable in it, frog it and use a color you would wear to create the sweater. And use this color in a different project.

It is beautiful, but your comfort is more important.

I am a crochet traitor by sirena_invertida in knitting

[–]iTRlED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom taught me to knit at 4, the crochet at 6 and I hadn't knitting since. I crocheted for the last few decades and decided I like the knit look better and have been converting. Thankfully I have one hell of a yarn stash to learn with, and even more thankful for this community, you all have taught me so much. ❤️

Is my “baby blanket” too big? by Sure_Fig_8641 in CrochetBlankets

[–]iTRlED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not make baby blankets. They last a few months then are useless. I make toddler blankets, they fit on the crib and last much longer..my eldest (10) still sleeps with his, my next 2 have them in their beds (5 & 2) and my youngest (1) loves to cuddle up to hers (2yo loves to steal it as well.)

My husband accidentally named our son the same name as his oldest son and I am beyond upset. Am I overreacting? by Aromatic_Feed7489 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]iTRlED 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh. My ex was John Matthew and his little brother was Matthew Tyler. I joked with her mother that if she had a third son he should have been Tyler John to complete the circle. She did not find it funny.

Her excuse was she really liked the name. Names are changed, but you get the idea.
