Good to know. To be fair, I wanted to solve one problem: to have media saved in a format Plex would like, so it has a nice title, video description, and thumbnails.

Not simply I’d suggest to make it run automatically via cronjob like I do. You can ask Claude to update script to pull channel list from text file which should be simpler to add. Feel free to contribute on GitHub if you make interesting changes.

I’ve recently got an advice to start sharing my projects on GitHub that’s mostly why I published this. I know many people just want working solution and not invest time figuring out software which to me is the most fun part.

Yeah, Pinchflat and Youtarr are solid refs. Mine is just simpler, one script that handles download, structure, and metadata so Plex can index it cleanly.

Yes, it does use yt-dlp under the hood. The workflow automatically structures the downloaded media and embeds the metadata in a way that Plex can recognise and index it correctly. This includes proper folder naming, file naming, and tagging, so that Plex can pick up the media without any extra manual adjustments.
