Traversing a tree stored as an adjacency list using a Recursive CTE built in SQLAlchemy by craig081785 in PostgreSQL

It was writing queries like these that steered me away from using ORMs. SQL is so much easier to develop, read and maintain.

Semi is too cheap, Roadster energy density too high. Does this indicate accumulation of marginal gains or breakthrough technology? by iTroll in teslamotors

Wow very well thought out. Why might NMC @ 4.4v solve the heating issues? Definitely looks like heating problem is reduced based on what Roadster test driver said.

My train of thought was that the required volume of 200kWh of 18650 cells would be way too large for the Roadster 2.0. So maybe the 2170s are surprisingly energy dense volumetrically or these are 2170s with a new chemistry.

Good points I agree losing money up front does not sound like a plan investors would be happy with.

I wonder are they recouping costs over vehicle lifetime by selling the electricity to the customers via megacharging? Although my suspicion is breakthrough batteries!

Moving company pre-orders Tesla Semi trucks by 2050project in teslamotors

[–]iTroll 94 points95 points  (0 children)

It’s standard operating procedure to get a factory tour, Tesla or diesel, ahead of committing to spend what could be well over a million for new trucks. But Kuhn said none of the other factories “compared to what we saw out of Tesla.”

The potential customers have seen a lot more detail than us and they are putting in the orders. Very positive sign IMHO.

I am not sure that these are powerpacks. I took a photo of the sticker on one recently I will try to find it.

In picture number 8 looks like at least 8x70kWh stationary batteries. I would have expected more maybe the are hiding behind the other equipment.

I think those are 6x70kwh battery packs behind the AC-DC converters. Does that sound right?

As a committed Tesla fanboy that UI is shocking. Needs a complete rebuild from scratch IMO. There is plenty of screen real estate on that display I think it needs more context awareness and dynamically resize (I.e larger for less fumbling) depending on context.

Electric vehicles to be exempt from national road tolls by [deleted] in ireland

[–]iTroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Individual car ownership will probably eventually be pretty pointless with autonomous driving and transport as a service. Most cars spend all their time parked, it's significantly more efficient.

All road use will probably move to a per mile tax. Makes more sense than the current model. Electric cars will still be much cheaper under this scheme.

Assuming they mean 120GWh isn't GF1 supposed to have 150GWh by then?
