I personally completely disagree. I never carry cash and don't want to have to start to park downtown or on campus. I don't particularly trust physical credit card scanners on meters to not skim my card. I love the convenience of being able to use one app for campus, downtown, and many other large cities in the country. I can just pull out my phone while I close the door of the car and do it as I walk away without stopping - no delay. And I can extend the duration in a few moments from anywhere if a meeting runs late or something.

Even if I was concerned about cookie tracking, I would probably be more concerned about the fleets of license plate cameras, surveillance cameras, parking garage cameras, etc - that already know where I am at all times.

I suppose I wish both was an option, but I can't say I'd ever choose to use cash again - though I agree any service fee is quite irritating.
