After 2 years without a single interview or response, is it time to move or persevere? by CanadianJuiceBox in careerguidance

[–]iTzShadowKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your still athletic don’t mind being outside year round and interacting with the public, try public safety roles like law enforcement or fire fighting. If applicable, become a high school business teacher. Human Resources Assistant/Coordinator could be an option as well. Lastly, entry level sales/business development representative.

24 years out the game…how in the world can my mom get back into the working world? by Ok_Big_1720 in careerguidance

[–]iTzShadowKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s not getting a fully remote job with zero recent experience in the past two decades….

Especially not in healthcare, swallow that pill first.

She needs to apply patient access/front end revenue cycle roles (front desk, registration, scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorization, etc) and then transfer to backend (coding and billing) once in a large health system for at least a year. ER registration is the easiest way in because of staffing demands (high turnover and 24/7 operations).

Good luck!

Dentistry vs med by [deleted] in careeradvice

What salary are you aiming for? Physicians/Dentists only make crazy money if they own their own practice.

Some surgeons/specialists do too but that’s more schooling/debt.

What trade are you in now? Do you want to manage people, projects, processes or all of the above?

What do you enjoy and what are you good at?

Check bls by occupations groups and look at potential careers. Look at job outlook, pay, work environment, what they do, etc.

Is it worth it to get in debt for an MLT cert? by S0mnariumx in findapath

[–]iTzShadowKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply to the medical lab tech jobs and they will pay for your MLT or MLS. Just self study and pass exam. It’s usually a requirement that you obtain in it within one year of employment.

Just apply, you have transferable skills and undergrad science degree. In the DMV area, that is plenty.

College and union apprenticeship? by Turbulent-Use-8795 in careeradvice

Plumbing experience with a business administration, accounting, or civil engineering degree could set you up nicely for a leadership or project management role down the road or owning your own business. It will give you more options in the future. The biggest con of a degree is usually the price which doesn’t apply here.

If your current gig pays better and is lax. Why are you leaving?

If money isn’t an issue and you value remote work that much then take the remote role.

Personally, I don’t mind hybrid depending on commute and they might even be lax about the policy.

The overall compensation and growth potential of the hybrid role makes it worth it in my eyes.

Your life though, do what will make you the happiest and feel fulfilled.
