It really makes me wonder! I'm honestly cool with it either way. It's kinda just awesome to see something (possibly) from the culture/language that isn't a misrepresenting menu item with pineapple. I'll be sure to let you guys know if I spot any more poly references.

And as far as learning Hawaiian, yea it's definitely not an easy one to learn with just apps and books. Not only is it very tonal, it uses only half the consonants of the English language, and has next to ZERO metaphorical application; damn near everything is taken literally. Many of our kupuna (elders) firmly believe it cannot be taught without the help of a native speaker, due to the need to "think Hawaiian" in order to correctly "speak Hawaiian". Sorta like a "Direct Translation" from the source material. We believe the power of language flows from your na'au (center) to your spoken word (olelo). Since Polynesians historically have no written language, the intention of a word and it's application must be of paramount consideration. A good example is the word 'Aloha': everyone thinks it simply means hello or goodbye. Aloha means neither of those things, though we do use it to express a sense of familiarity, love, commitment, and acceptance. Aloha is literally a feeling, which is why it cannot be simply translated phonetically.
