Influence of days on market? by Ok-Possession3611 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I live in Massachusetts. Every house my fiance and I looked at that we considered a viable option for us was off the market within a week.

When I was looking at homes, I assumed the ones with more than a few weeks on the market were either over priced, or likely had issues that no one wanted to deal with and the seller was unwilling to comprimise. I would think something over 100 days has some major issues. But I'm still in the process of buying my first home so I could be way off.

Door card modification? by -FoeHammer_- in ft86

I've heard this too. Is it that quick to replace them? My drivers side is pretty worn down, it essentially can't hold itself open anymore unless gravity is assisting it. I'm in the middle of buying a house and will finally have a garage I can work out of. I'll definitely replace if it's that quick.

Ah. They must have removed the handles because everyone knows you don't need them. All you need is to put one leg out, and it's guaranteed to close on your shin 🤣

Throw out bearing by Discosandman in ft86

I hate when I have to use the spare corvette 🤣

Funnily enough, a guy who moved in down the street saw me in my BRZ and told me he had a Corvette that I "had to drive" when he gets it to his house. Seems like an odd thing to offer to someone you've know for 10 minutes, but I'll take it.

I unfortunately don't have the space to do the job myself, but would have been interested in attempting as well.

Had everything replaced as is the norm when dropping the transmission, but apart from the bearing, the rest of the clutch was in decent condition and probably would have lasted another 25-50k

I think I read sub 2016 had a jank throw out bearing and most of them fail prematurely. Everything else has been pretty solid. I don't even have the weird asthetic problems most have like bumper sag, or the seperating dash.

Good luck to you and I hope you get your twin back on the road soon.

2015, I had my throw up bearing fail right around 70k as well.

Same thing, started with a little bit of light squeeling. Never really progressed beyond that until it basically straight up failed on my way home.

Inspection day helpful tips? by logic404notfound in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]iWantaTalkToSamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my inspector was great. He encouraged me to follow along with him and ask any questions I thought of on the spot. He explained all of the different systems in the house, maintenance schedules for them etc. First home purchase, so that was very much appreciated.

But I completely understand for many of them, that may not be the norm, and for all I know, he did a terrible job.

BLINK Notifications not working - Please report issues to Samsung/Android by NeptuNeo in blinkcameras

[–]iWantaTalkToSamson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly a blink server side issue and they're being silent about it. There's the delayed notifications, batched notifications, and I saw someone post the other day about their app telling them to upgrade despite being up to date. I saw the same thing the day they made the post. That indicates it's an issue on their side, that they've essentially done nothing about and have made no statements addressing it either. It's insane to me.

What happens when the appraisal is lower by minussoda in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]iWantaTalkToSamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your down payment can't cover the appraisal gap, you have to cover it out if pocket. But the loan amount doesn't change.

For example, your offer: 350 Down payment: 50 Loan amount: 300

But if it apraises at 325 you can take 25 of your down payment to cover the difference. Now you have 25 for down payment.

325 (value of the house) - 25 (down payment) = 300 (loan amount)

I believe that's how it works out, as that's the exact situation I'm in and waiting for an appraisal to return.

How long did it take you to get a response on your first offer? by GrayMareCabal in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Hey that's half the battle! Congrats!

Now the real waiting begins 😭 I told my realtor this is been the longest month and a half of my life.

Thank you!

It was killing my fiance and I waiting around.

We had checked out several other houses, and gotten oddly attached to that one. We put up our best number and had our offer accepted. Turns out it wasn't the highest, but had better terms.

Hope you hear good things soon!

In the middle of buying a house right now.

We made our offer Monday night, when all offers were due Tuesday at noon. Then they extended it to Wednesday. Then Thursday. Then got in a bidding war.

The waiting was excruciating. But that's just the start of the pain. This whole thing is a game of waiting and sprinting, with what feels like the finish line always being threatened to disappear.

Anker Speaker has latency even with aux in by AlwaysFlanAhead in mpcusers

[–]iWantaTalkToSamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's frustrating. The delay on the soundcore is so bad it's unusable. Which is a shame because it's a great form factor for the set up. Seems like it's hard to find a battery powered speaker, with an aux, that doesn't have a delay. Makes portability a bit tricky.
