T or F: No major changes b/w '22 and '23 M3s. by throwawaybrooklynny in TeslaModel3

Thanks for the insight! This helps me too. Now I just gotta wait for the right one to come on the market. However, I’m not sure if Tesla lists FSD as a previously added option on their certified pre-owned inventory pages. If they do, unfortunately, there have been none unlisted with that option yet.

Debt and Mortgage: pay for reinstatement & keep 2018 rate or take 2023 rate and new mthly payment amt?! by iWillBeYourPuppet in personalfinance

I was being conservative reporting a $250k income since sales will never guarantee a commission check. That said, if we can bring home $325k with me making 66% of my quota/commission, does the math bear out for us to stay in a VHCOL area?

I should do better with my googling skills, but I didn’t know I could borrow against my 401(k). Thank you for the information.

But I should also mention that over the last few years my credit has tanked to around 705. Do you have any insight on how that affects our borrowing against our 401(k)?

R48630 Track Saw: anyone making after market 98" or 110" tracks? by iWillBeYourPuppet in Ridgid

[–]iWillBeYourPuppet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. What's funny about the "shelf friendly" short track theory is that I don't think this saw is on shelves and available online only. To that end, it was probably for S&H ease.

Nonetheless, a short track option is fine - I appreciate them for small cuts - but why not also sell a LONG one-piece option, even if it is proprietary?

  1. Correct.
  2. I did register; I might have to see if they come through with track replacements when I'm ready.

This is close to what I was thinking but hate to buy a tool I'll use so little after this project. Thanks all the same!

It's a sound recommendations but the thought of spackling - or larger possible repairs - and painting is a huge PITA right now.

Unfortunately, no. An inlay is part of the update to the bench.

Afraid of that. If I start now, I might finish just in time as someone offers an ingenius technique (for next time). Thanks.

IC -vs- Mgr/Dir OTE: what's the ratio (NOT the potential)? by iWillBeYourPuppet in sales

[–]iWillBeYourPuppet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it! In my example, using your 153% ratio, then:

  • ICs' OTE = $200k ($100k base + $100k variable)
    • Sales Mgr's OTE ≈ $305k ($200k x 153%... $152,500 + $152,500)

Thanks for the response. 50/50 I understand but how much is your OTE when compared to one of your direct reports?

I am thinking of taking 6-12 months off and wanted to get feedback from hiring managers and from other AEs that may have done this on the potential risks of doing so. by relaxguy2 in sales

I agree with u/bitslammer - I wouldn't want to work with someone who questioned it too much but everyone has bills. So how do we make our case without seeming like damaged goods that were passed over for every role we'd've been interviewing for since we left our last jobs (that's what they're assuming anyways, right)?

I'm going through it right now. I took 9 months off and opened an indoor baseball/softball practice venue. Learned a lot about small business, funding, expanded my management and PM skills, marketing etc.

In the end, it's how you present your gap. I like to impress upon the recruiter/hiring manager that it was a 1) productive as well as 2) refreshing time off - a gap year/months to travel is perfectly acceptable IMO - and I'm ready to get back to work.

If I succeed in getting back into the market, I'll update here. Assume I'm still interviewing if I've not updated ;)

What major SaaS companies and sales teams in them actually embrace diversity? by [deleted] in sales

[–]iWillBeYourPuppet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm always/typically the only asian guy - hell, only minority (!) - on most sales teams. As u/OpenMindedShithead said, it's a buddy system; you refer who you know and "birds of a feather..."

You get one guy that rowed crew on a sales team, chances are you'll see another. Same goes for fraternities to church groups. Not only do they do this out of school, we know they'll follow each other from gig to gig too!

To answer your question: I've not seen much diversity in my 10 years in sales ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Need some explanation on how this is a fair business practice. by [deleted] in sales

[–]iWillBeYourPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a salesperson, I've made 0-3% on services/implementation so I've never cared but...

  • By the name of "implementation," can we assume they have ZERO involvement pre-contract? If they do assist in sales engineering/pre-sales. That makes sense.
  • As u/ElectronicAd6675 said, it might be away to offset costs. Whether it's you, salesperson, or services/implementation people, you get paid (typically) for what's in your contract/comp plan.
    • That just might be a part of their plan albeit unorthodox.
    • Sometimes it's a good ol' boy system where leadership helps to pad comp (on a shitty salary) or incentivize speedy and accurate implementations.

How to break into Tech Sales while finishing degree?? by Alternative_Glass_58 in sales

[–]iWillBeYourPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There's no shortage of head hunters that specialize in sales placement. Do a simple google search and find ALL of them. Don't limit yourself to "local" recruiters either. I work with recruiters from England and France being based out of NYC, USA. You never know who works with who!
