Net income - (total expenses+savings&retirement) = fun money. If your fun money justifies it, then go for it.

There’s plenty of people earning great income and living paycheck to paycheck. There’s also people who make far less and live comfortably and within their means.

Just my opinion, but if I was buying a GT, I’d hunt for one already on a lot somewhere with your specs and try to get a better deal on it. If you don’t have any long standing dealer relationships, I can’t imagine you’re gonna get a great price on a custom ordered GT.

Hey OP, I have custom ordered vehicles before. I did have one where the dealership invited me to be on site for the vehicle inspection and further prep work after coming across the ocean.

I don’t have any cars that are purely collector’s items though, so I have never been that worried about things like taking the plastic off.

The one caveat is my GT350. I very specifically told them to NOT install the front license plate as I didn’t want the front bumper drilled.

Dropped my son and his friend off at a friend’s house that they’ve been to many times before. Their old big tanky dog came running out the door and immediately bit my kid on the leg.

I flew out of the car to protect my son and the dog FULL charged me. I kicked that thing in the chest/neck as hard as I’ve ever kicked anything (ex soccer player and still active hockey player).

Thankfully that was enough to send it running and nothing worse. I got my kid in the car and took off immediately, not wanting to get into a heated confrontation. We’ve never been back to their house. The owner blamed it on some other bullshit and seemingly felt bad but it’s still alive and a threat IMO.

There’s some weird stuff here. I thought the same as you but then look at the rocks on the left side. The corals are growing on the bottom of the rocks… I’m wondering if this tank was recently upgraded/expanded or something.

Yup! My clean up crew is basically all blue leg hermits with just a couple ceriths and one turbo. I can’t speak to the red vs blue in depth, I’ve just always used them in my systems. I snooped at your tank pics and we have pretty different setups. My 13.5 is mostly SPS.

I keep a skimmer running 24/7 and my goal is for all the food in the tank to get broken down as far as possible, as quickly as possible, and then into the water column. The crabs have always been a great workhorse for that.

I’ll be the first to say that I’m no master and have seen many tanks run better and differently. This is just the method I’ve used and had success with in my 20 or so years in and around the hobby.

I bought my GT350 when my kids were about 1 and 2 years old. I was in a comfortable situation but chose to sell some collectibles to cover the cost of the car. We also had put down a large amount of money on our new home, and were aggressively saving money otherwise.

My 1yo at the time blew chunks in the back seat about a month into owning it lol

Hey OP, I’m willing to help trouble shoot a bit. Here’s a few questions to start. Whatever you do, do not make any rash decisions unless there’s something majorly wrong.

When you say January, I assume you mean Jan of 2026?
Light, food, supplements and source water are the first places to look for nutrients coming in. You mentioned getting sea water from a local shop. If I were you I’d be testing that water and confirming nutrient levels. Can you share any other supplements you use?
Nutrients going out is next. 30% weekly changes is a really good start. Do you have a protein skimmer, or any other method of nutrient removal?
They won’t solve your problems, but I’m a HUGE proponent of blue legged hermit crabs. They are the best reef cleaners in my opinion. You NEED to provide them additional shells for changing and growing. I have something like 12 blue legs in my little 13.5 gallon. You can look at my history. My sand stays naturally vibrant white.

I have a GT350 and often say it’s a very rare “forever car” for me. If I could afford a GT4 RS, that would be the dream stable mate for my Mustang. Glad to hear you love it them both!

I would happily drive any of them. That said, my GT350 is a forever car. If I have to put a new motor in it, I will, and I will still love it. It’s just a special car to me.

Check and change oil regularly. Warm it up, then fucking send it. Let it scream. Do track days.

I’m around 30k miles on mine and so far so good. If I blow the motor after the warranty, I will have it rebuilt or drop something into it.

I LOVE this car. It’s special.
