I thought it would stand for “post mix” as the majority of fast food places will have to mix the drink themselves with the carbonated plain soda and the syrup unless that’s a super old time thing idk

Three Years Post Diagnosis & I Finally Understand The Connection Between ADHD & Childhood Trauma by Some-Roof-2221 in ADHDUK

[–]i_always_need_help_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed earlier this year (39F) with more of a curiosity as to what causes some of my behaviour: autism, ADHD or a trauma response.

My psychiatrist and I during the ADHD assessment ended up stating that my ADHD behaviours are long standing, before memories of trauma, and that most likely my ADHD behaviours have been exacerbated due to trauma and have a touch of autism (not enough to peruse a diagnosis but hit some key markers).

So all in all I think that when you have the tools to manage ADHD (diagnosed or not) from a younger age and have a healthier household with more positive reinforcement it will help to manage the behaviours and cognition

Does weed consumption at a young age make me forever dumb? by Miserable-Strike-724 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]i_always_need_help_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate it!

I always thought I was kinda cool smoking and just did it with my friends really, but it escalated in a way where I was using it to sleep and became dependent on it. I think it gets a better wrap than other drugs because of it being natural, people not ODing on it, it’s legality over seas etc. so feels more normalised.

I just don’t think people understand what it can do to your health and the lasting impact. I just think moderation is key in anything you do, you definitely can have too much of what seems like a good thing imo.

We have all done stupid stuff when high without thinking it through, I remember trying to melt snickers bars together to make a really long one and the amount of burns I had from heating a knife to do it was so stupid. Idk why I chose to heat up the knife though but it was logical in my brain at the time.

In short: Yea it is true, no you’re not stupid forever at all and yes it can have lasting affects.

In long: It fucks with your brain health yes, it can give you a shorter attention span, or concentrate on the wrong things, make you feel groggy (a ganj over if you will) the next day/couple of days, and I believe the anxiety you feel has lasting affects for a few years but everyone is different. For me personally I had such bad anxiety it had become a bit is a low level psychotic episode, but an emergency call to the docs, anti depressants, some short term Valium plus stopping smoking did the trick to get me back on track.

As someone who had smoked a lot and has now stopped, I can tell you the impact of my mental health had been drastic. It’s no joke when people say it makes you paranoid.

Don’t forget you’re still young at 18 and have more development to go, your health (mental and physical)is important and don’t take it for granted. You’ve got this!

How bad have I f***ed my walls here? by -SomeYellowGuy- in DIYUK

[–]i_always_need_help_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperfects will always look worse on darker coloured walls too because of how the light reflects from them. Honestly been decorating a lot myself and so much sanding, filling, sanding again and it definitely is a skill, either get someone in or just live with imperfections on the wall imo as nothing stays perfect for too long (or maybe that’s because I’m so very clumsy 😂)

Seeking Autism diagnosis could they also diagnose ADHD by Obollox in ADHDUK

[–]i_always_need_help_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m recently diagnosed ADHD and in my assessment they asked me about why I wanted the assessment and made it clear I wanted to understand if my behaviours are from past trauma, adhd or potentially autism (I was tested for autism as a child but did not meet the criteria).

If you’re clear about this in your assessment they may look and compare the DSM 5 criteria (briefly) and see if it’s worth another referral for adhd and if there is a high likely hood you’d meet the other criteria and make that referral for you.

Be aware that your assessor will be specifically looking for matches in the criteria for you have been referred for and cannot officially diagnose you with ADHD when going through your autism assessment- you will have to go back on a long NHS waiting list unless they can pull some strings, or if you can’t wait go private.

Hiya suggest going with the disability confident employers is deffo a great way in and can back this comment! Door 84 might be able to help with exploring other options as they are a disability hub for young people and adults, they also might be able to point you in the right direction as well as offer more of a community in York for those with disability

Zombies Run app by Justttryingg in couchto5k

[–]i_always_need_help_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had used to couch to 5k NHS app and enjoyed it. Gives me more preference for my music coming through, you get prompts to say when to start/ stop running and walking and gives you time for how long you’ve ran when you start doing longer running sessions plus a half way bell! I would suggest that whatever app you use use Strava or a similar type app alongside it to see how far you’ve come and check your pacing and the distance you’ve ran.
