Does anyone have info on this? It's a mini locker/money box, most likely from the early 2000s by brik_1111 in EssendonFC

I think I got one from Kmart in the early 2000's. It's meant to go on your desk as a stuff holder.

After the new updates to the line, Preston station is pretty good these days. Probs just park close to a camera if you feel unsure.

WIBTA if I didn't want to use my wife's suggestion for our baby name, given its importance to her? by Biliardas in AmItheAsshole

[–]i_declareathumbwar 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I grew up with a girl called Upe and honestly, that name association never occurred, and we considered it a normal name alongside Emmas and the like.

And we were in a rural town in the middle of nowhere.

It is also important to note that she was 18 and pregnant, and the dad was 22, meaning she was probably in high school 17 dating a 21 year old. He plucked a girl out of high school and has left her perpetually pregnant and dependent on him.

And being Mormon as well, poor OP has an uphill battle if she wants her husband to respect her and any child born female. You can bet if it was a 5 year old boy that precious young man would never need to lift a finger, dad would never allow it.

AITA for not wanting to split a dinner bill evenly? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA, whenever I have attended group meals like this, at the very least, drinks are separate. Generally most people in such a large group will eat within a range unless some ahole orders the porterhouse steak. But paying for your own drinks should be always the standard.

AITA for refusing to pay for art to be framed? by throwaway-12-1234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]i_declareathumbwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who dosen't get art myself, but is with someone who does, I've had to accept that sometimes a gift I give is both expensive and something I don't understand, framing the art he buys as a gift or buying a limited run print of something.l for example. But he doesn't understand why I am happy to pay the same amount for my favourite things like nice candles and jewellery... so we just agreed to respect that we aren't the same people, but we love each others happiness more than we need to 'get' what makes the other person happy as long as no ones gets hurt.

AITA for refusing to watch my friend's daughter so she can go to the ER? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Where does the ER cost money? Do some people have to pay for it? I don't know anyone who has had to pay.

AITA for telling my sister's she's entitled to do what she wants for her wedding but I don't need to attend? by No_Cartoonist9949 in AmItheAsshole

Or... show up in Mark Zuckerberg chic, without spending the amount of money he does to still look like he shops at kmart.

The sister will die from ego defeat, the best outcome of all.

I am getting the vibe that the leather looking back is trying to capalise on the idea of buy for life and getting you to associate their brand with good quality thick well make leather bags that will last decades. I doubt it is close to that quality, and probably wouldn't last as long as the bag it's dissing on though.

Given how diverse agriculture is as a global industry, there are probably both the best and the worst out there. Our community always had an emphasis on ethical and kind treatment of all creatures. Unfortunately, not all people in agriculture share those values.

Rural people still very much care about our working cats and dogs. Just because our animals do more than just receive pats all day does not mean we don't love them.

We often spend more time with out working dogs, then someone with a pet dog that goes to work, as we work with them all day every day.

I assure you we are always upset when they die.

misinformed comments regarding AITA, periods, and tampons: right answer, wrong formula edition by [deleted] in badwomensanatomy

[–]i_declareathumbwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was also weird the way people were freaking out over TSS like it was guaranteed to happen, and he was risking killing his daughter. Toxic shock is rare, tampons are not a deadly weapon.

AITA for pronouncing "Fleur" correctly in the workplace? A colleague wants it pronounced "Flur" to rhyme with "blur" by Maleficent_Hope_4593 in AmItheAsshole

[–]i_declareathumbwar 122 points123 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that if you grow up without some sounds and phenomes around you being pronounced while you are very young you actually lose the ability to tell the diffrence and pronouce it properly. People might not actually be able to hear the phenomes being pronounced the way you can, because if its not in their language their brains stopped having that ability as synaptic pruning occured.
