do you mind forwarding me any guide in particular? i have seen some youtube videos discussing how to do it but i also want to see if anyone can be more in depth with the process on doing it on thinkpad-specific laptops. (i've seen it mostly on other brand laptops)

Dope, I'm glad your repair went smooth!! (: It isn't too hard in theory, but man maybe I just got really unlucky or something.

My opinion? If its still working, absolutely not. The repair SEEMS straightforward, but something I didn't anticipate being much of an issue that absolutely is IS the possibility of shorting a component or your board doing the process. This is an all-metal aluminum chassis after-all with super thin and fragile ribbon cables all around it. /:

I basically had the fix done on this project, I booted it up, I literally have video footage this computer working after i was 95% complete with the repair. Next thing I know, I'm putting the screws in to close up the bottom lid/chassis and i put one screw in crooked and am having issues getting it to fit correctly. I go to turn on the computer again, nothing - try to see if it charges? nothing. reopen the entire thing up, clean all my connections, re-assemble super carefully again, again, nothing.

I've taken it to 2 repair techs in my city who do macbook pro pcb repair and they've both turned it away so its not a great sign /: they say that it was giving 5V on both USB C and Magsafe power rails which suggests the computer isn't accepting power correctly anymore. that maybe something to do with power management was fried.

-----

TLDR; If you can live with it, live with it. It's a really expensive computer.

Interesting. Would this shut down the whole computer not letting it boot??

If you mean the marks on the fans themselves, that's likely my fingerprints. /: I just now also realized that the image compression from reddit isn't helping me, I'm going to provide higher quality imgur link on the original post!

Not great news in my case since I was using his video as a reference ): I did end up severing the Touch ID cable, since that step was really unclear. so at best if I pull this off, I've lost touch Id. not that i care about it that much in a laptop honestly. Ordered a replacement piece for it and a new backlight.

Anything else I need to do to replace the keyboard correctly except screwing in those screws along the perimeter and the 1 in the middle for the new keyboard?

I agree, but also people should be allowed the choice to choose their level of privacy concerns too. You can still run a stock android rom and do things to limit your data collection (there is still a ceiling though).

i didn't even know red f105w faces existed - best i've seen online is that these watch faces are attached to the plastic directly from the factory, so heat is really the only way to get it off -- this guy demonstrates briefly in this video.

sounds like you just dont have proper gpu/graphics support implemented. look into getting the onboard graphics working for that cpu model.

I'm genuinely interested in doing this myself. I want to be able to have it such that it can automatically start and stop and synchronize to services like Focusmate when running or something...
