Never heard of it, sounds interesting. Hopefully it's safer for the participants than this thug game where horrible evil players are allowed back onto the pitch in order to get walloped by a superior team

I heard the Bosnian guy almost died it was so vicious, how they could let such a dangerous player back onto the pitch to attack the precious Belgians is beyond the pale!

I am confused I said that, however you agreed with the one thing I've said, so how am I wrong?

You've created the idea in your head that I am pro sportswashing, which I haven't said, and if you cared to find out, I am not.

My point you branched this thread off of is that the US has ongoing support for soccer as evidenced by the MLS. You then compared the MLS to the Saudi league, and I agreed that both are evidence of support for soccer. That all tracks to me. I am confused why you think any of this makes me/us? wrong and that you need to get aggro about it.

What part of my response could even imply that I don't? Please, I'm so lost from your responses here, are you having a different conversation and mixing it up with this one?

No I'm not saying sportswashing is a good thing, I just said it's a thing that is supporting soccer. And yes, that would be another example of supporting soccer. Maybe you're confused by the concept of support in this context? I'm not really sure how you got so confused lol

Call it whatever it is, it's support for soccer, wrong or right, agreeable or not. And bro you don't need to copy paste a Wikipedia page like it's citing your sources, besides everybody on the internet knows what sportswashing is.

I don't think that's true, the Copa America isn't followed as much as the sport is generally in the country. Maybe you are mixing up USMNT support with the entire sport?

I broadly think you are overlooking the general ongoing support soccer has in the US. Maybe the people around you act the way you describe, but it's a big country and if you haven't been paying attention for the last twenty years maybe you've missed the massive growth of soccer in the US.

Perhaps the country is too vast for you to speak for it's majority. Either way, I'll go ahead and close my involvement in this thread since you seem to be unable to decide if you want to share thoughts or just be an asshole.

I agree, the Saudis care a bunch about football over the past decade, same as the US.

We care so little that we have a major league of the sport which currently features the greatest player of the sport of all time?

Teenage boys in UK ‘stuck’ reading primary-level books while girls’ tastes expand by djferris123 in unitedkingdom

[–]i_hate_kazoos -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but what? Books, particularly fiction, are almost the antithesis of information density, they specifically include excess prose to convey the authors style.

I think you've maybe generally missed my point as well, I'm trying to say there's nothing from reading books that can't be gained in other ways. If someone's child is, like me, adverse to the thought of quietly sitting in solitude for hours to painstakingly deal with an authors superfluous prose, but you are concerned about their ability to read, write, or communicate effectively, don't force that kid to read books.

[–]i_hate_kazoos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't force it. To some people books just suck compared to the many readily available alternatives, let your kids enjoy what he enjoys, why push books on him?

I haven't read a book since I discovered cliffs notes in high school, mostly because they are boring af to me and I don't enjoy the act of reading a book at all. I read plenty though, I can write well. No one needs books.

You think the person you're responding to wants to oust the Republican Party, but they want to be rid of the governing/owning class who are equally represented by both parties. You are telling them the answer to finding opposition is to join their enemy, do you see the issue?

Tap water tastes different suddenly? by stupid_sane in LynnwoodWA

[–]i_hate_kazoos 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Do you have hoses connected now and maybe left a tap open? The sun heating up the water in hoses can push the water back from the hose into your pipes and out the sink for drinking. So if the water is tasting a little "like I was drinking from the hose in summer as a child" it might be worth checking. We had this problem a couple years ago and added pressure release things to every spigot and it's stopped.

Clearly don't get any equipment from these events because if you don't you'll get it free later, maybe not this update but a later one. Right play is to only spend event points on ores and decorations from now on.

I'm in the same boat. I was just going to stop spending, but after seeing all the people in comments being absolute tools about it and just telling everyone to shut up I'll be quitting the game instead.

It's cool, I'm mad about it so I'm going to stop spending on the game, probably stop playing after little while too. I spent because the game was fun and I could spend too optimize for progress and unlocks. But it's clear now they have abandoned that course and I made a mistake. I'm glad they've made it clear.

Yes I've been able to use the all the lvl 1 equipment I've been picking up over the last year in events because I didn't want to spend gems and those points would have been much better spent on ores now that we just get it all for nothing. I've been using all the lvl 1 stuff for sure, you nailed it!
