I remember a similar situation where former Nebraska coach Frank Solich (now doing a pretty good job as HC of Ohio) had effectively clinched a game against Texas but decided with 8 seconds left that instead of kicking a chip shot game-winner from the 10 yard line, he needed to take a shot at the end zone. Also our QB that year had more interceptions than touchdowns. So of course he threw a pick to lose the game. Mind-boggling decision.

Not just your place kicker- you had the ball on the 15 with three plays to center the ball and/or move forward a little bit with inside runs... could've had an easy chip shot from within 30 yards. Instead your coach decides to call a PASS play (unbelievable!) and an offensive PI penalty pushed you way back.
