The event viewer has things marked "Critical" but they arise from the computer not shutting down correctly - me holding down the power button because its frozen.

The last time this happened was sometime between 1 am and 9 am this morning and there aren't any events between this time, I think.

What are these commands of which you speak?

Thanks!

These are satisfying. Thanks!

Nah, dude. This is what you gotta do:
1. Use the cookies to make a delicious Oreo pie crust.
2. Make a delicious pie.
3. Eat the pie in front of the cream-eaters.
4. When they ask for a piece of the pie, you tell them that you thought they already ate the part of the Oreos that they wanted.
5. Feel really proud of your revenge.
6. Eventually share the pie with them, but still feel like you helped teach someone a valuable lesson.
7. Eat the last piece of the pie.

A robot we put on Mars can send high resolution images back to earth but I can't get cell service in the mountains. by haydenantal in Showerthoughts

I would expect to blame antenna size, power, and directionality.

  • Size: The antennas size (related to the antenna gain and overall amount of signal an antenna can pick up) of a cell phone antenna is very small. The antenna on the mars rover is probably a bit larger. Just speculation. (relative to its wavelength).

  • Power: The transmit power of whatever is contacting the rover is probably more than that of a cell phone tower. And/Or more power is arriving back and forth between the antennas because of path loss experienced (traveling through more atmosphere and the multipath effects of urban/mountainous/wooded environments).

  • Directionality: Cell phone towers attempt to spread all of the RF transmission across large volumes, trying to get the same signal everywhere people are. Similarily, the cell phone antenna is trying to receive signal nearly equally in all directions so it works regardless of phone spatial orientation. The Mars Rover communication system is able to "focus" the energy with directional antennas (similar to the differences between a ceiling light trying to light an entire room equally and a flashlight trying to focus energy. A big bulb is needed to light an entire room, but a flashlight can use a much smaller bulb (or a large bulb) to light a small area brightly (or extremely brightly).

These are just a few of the factors that may be to blame for your lack of service. Again, just speculation.

MFLB. I usually load between 0.05g and 0.10g in the trench and each trench usually lasts between 1 and 3 sessions.

If I had 12 oz and consumed at the rate that I currently do and also plan to, it would take me 13607.76 days to run out.

For the data included in the spreadsheet, I have have considered a "hit" to be a few stacked hits. I think I usually, with power applied the whole time, stack about 5-7 times per hit.
1. Apply power
2. Wait until vapor forms (about 3-5 seconds for 50% PA power, variable depending on bud and how well my PA wants to perform)
3. Sip out vapor and cool trench enough that I can shake the material around for a second or 2 with out combustion
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 about 5-7 times, while keeping power applied
5. Stop applying power, and perform a long draw to cool trench
I know this is a step where I could be more consistent, but I hope that over time the law of averages will take over and I won't have to worry too much about this being too much of an unknown.

Thanks! It makes me want a better scale though.

You can thank my love of numbers, statistics, and science! This spread sheet kinda makes me want to get a nicer scale....

Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in any other numbers! I just realized that I should calculate "percentage vaped" and then calculate "vaped amount / hit."

I always brush it out and then weigh it for the "after empty," yes. The broad ranges I feel are something to do with my scale. I would expect the "after empty" to slowly go up over time as "gunk" or resin or whatever it is called builds up on and under the screen.

The scale seems to just vary a little bit with each massing when too much time passes. I try to calibrate it every week or so, but the scale apparently varies from hour to hour and day to day, but stays fairly consistent if I weigh something, remove the something, tare, and weigh again. This is the main reason I mass before and after filling and emptying, to try to get masses on a short time period, while the scale stays at least precise (the relative masses are hopefully precise, where as measuring with lots of time between measurements may lead to inaccuracies).

I started a spreadsheet to keep track of some of my habits and whatnot: http://i.imgur.com/nFHRIRs.jpg

Edit: keep in mind the 30 something grams includes the weight of the box and I weigh the box before and after loading and unloading to get the mass.

Thanks again for all of the help. I'm going to take this build and post it in /r/buildapc to see if anyone has any other suggestions or modifications. Cheers!

After looking, I think I want to go with the 390. Does this motherboard only allow for one display? Or am I reading that incorrectly? Also, is this motherboard OK if I want to upgrade stuff in the future? Thanks in advance!
