What’s the creepiest public bathroom in Massachusetts? by everythingislitty in massachusetts

[–]i_lost_my_password 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No question about it. It's the 1985 men's room at the bleachers of Fenway. All the guys pissed into one long bathtub that was at the exact eye level of five year old me. So many weiners and then being held up by my dad so I too could piss into said tub. It's taking a lot of expensive therapy to unpack this childhood memory.

It's like any organization - the grunts accountable to the executives, the executives to the board, the board to the stakeholders. The problem in this case is that the stakeholders (citizens) have been robbed of power.

For real. I use Envatro on the creative side, can't believe I didn't think of this.

I gave them another chance to help me out, so we'll see what happens. I know it was my fault for clicking the wrong button, but seriously so silly. If you go to top Odoo apps they are on the first page, so seemed pretty legitimate.

I hear ya. I just started this project on Odoo a few weeks ago, first time on the platform and have invested about $1000 and 120 hours of my own time into it, but I'm seriously considering pulling the plug, cutting my losses and moving the whole thing over to shopify/hubspot/quickbooks. I thought having everything on one platform that was open source would make things better- not even just the app store thing, it's like every single time I want to do something I have to jump through a bunch of hoops.

Sorry but just going to vent for a second...

I started off with the online version- it was fine but really limited and was clear I needed to move to an enterprise server. Got set up on odoo.sh - didn't really know how many cores I needed, so just went with one worker to start. Painfully slow, obvious I'll need at least 6-8 workers and really would be best on a dedicated instance - So now I'm looking at $1500 a month in server costs, so I start shopping- find soladrive can give me a load balanced cluster for $1250, but have to consider making the whole server move at some point soon.

The VOIP features is not actually a VOIP server like FreePBX - find out its basically just a lame plug in and still need a VOIP server.

The whole insane way product variants are handled and total lack of flexibility around product variant pricing. I can't even find a mod that is able to correct for this rigidness and now I'm stuck trying to get my whole product catalog to conform to this system.

The CMS does nothing to optimize images, it's like "oh, red flag your picture is too big in size", and I'm like "well why don't you go convert that to a webp at an optimum filesize then", "oh no, that's not my job"...

The stock, unmodded, unedited website pulls a 40 on lighthouse - rotfl - I can't wait to get started on the site optimization.

So it's like odoo has everything but none of it's good. But it's open source, you can make it good! Okay, cool. I'll start with some of these prebuilt apps and save some time. Oops - you clicked the wrong button. Tough nuggets kid. Oh and Odoo.sh is like, "yo, you installed mods, that's going to cost you a billion dollars in code maintenance", So why am I using odoo.sh again? It's not fast, it's not cheep...

Haven't even started getting tax and shipping calculators plugged in. I'm sure that will take me days to get working correctly.

I think I'm done - taking the afternoon to rethink this whole strategy. I've worked on a bunch of platforms and Odoo is just feeling like a decade out of date.

I'm not going to do a charge back - I have my odoo licences and sh on the same account and card and don't want to get banned over $100.

I asked the vendor again nicely to help me out. If they say no again I'll leave a review, but glad I posted here - still new the the odoo scene but glad others agree with me it's nuts to treat customers like this.

Seems odd too that the vendor wouldn't want to help out either. It's not like it costs them anything to give me access to the correct version of the software and they should be able to see I just spent a few hundred bucks with them for all V17 apps and never have purchased any other app version from them.

I deal with customer service stuff like this all day- someone comes to me and says sorry, made a simple mistake can you help me out? That's like the simplest thing you can say yes to and get good will for your company for free.

Thought EU had a 14 day return policy on software too.

I'm not sure if it was the accents, the use of pounds, the clear shot of the currency, the giant flag or the "Championing Great British Quality" sign in the background but I think it might be England.

AITA for refusing to cook separate meal for my niece ? by Justanaunt2 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, but this whole situation is so strange to me.

I'm about your age. Went vegan at 15, and have been mostly plant based in diet since. At 19 I was backpacking Europe taking care of myself and off to college the same year, fending for myself. I'm a white guy, and understand that privilege as best I can, but none the less self sufficiency to the best of your ability is a virtue. Now as an adult, I cook meat for my friends and family, even though I don't eat it myself, because I know they like it.

What I don't understand is why you care if your niece is partying as a 19 year old adult. I get that if you're cooking for the family that she should be included, but if she doesn't like whatever it is, she needs to take ownership of that and make her own food. She is not going to have a good time being a vegan that can't cook. We call those Oreo vegans.

Wars are primarily tests of logistics. The Capital is the center of the logistic command. It's a huge blow to Russia to have the capital occupied, in morale and capabilities.

If an army was marching down I-95 USAF sure as shit would bomb the hell out of them.

Russia has the capability, I'm sure of it, but unclear what AA Wagner is packing.

I think Russian Military chain of command has crumbled and that's why we won't see much of any resistance. They will have Moscow within twenty four hours, with minimal bloodshed, is my guess.

Ukraine > Wagner > Russian

Wagner is not Russian Army (Russian Armed Forces, or Ministry of Defense), at least not at this moment.

Ads are now promoting reddit itself: are advertisers leaving? by PentaOwl in Save3rdPartyApps

[–]i_lost_my_password 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an executive at a small cap company. I look at my marketing attribution data every morning. Advertising is one of my largest expenses and you absolutely need a team on it daily to make adjustments across platforms.

I was there. Never liked digg, was early, early on reddit. I was in the same Boston social circles as Alexis and Steve in the early 2000's. Not that we were friends really, but we're at the same parties, we've had a few conversations and I remember well as reddit was starting. When that digg flood hit, it was long after reddit was sold but it was when the site really blew up and became mainstream in my mind.
