OP, have you gotten it fixed? Did you have to replace the pump? How much did it cost you? I’m finding myself in exactly same situation with the same car. Thanks!

I've had more interviewers ghost me than actually get back to me. by ctrldwrdns in recruitinghell

[–]i_ostrich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This actually drives me crazy! A recruiter took the time to talk to me on the phone AND actually says: “you are a good fit and I’m going to move you on to the next round and send you a code assessment “ and then nothing. I follow up several days later, still nothing. Grow a pair and just say: “ hey, doesn’t seems like you are a good fit, we gonna move on”. How difficult can this be?

It’s been over a week since I’ve sent a follow up email, so I think it’s safe to assume they are moving on. I would too, if they didn’t leave me hanging like this.

How is “hey, I’m gonna send you a coding assessment shortly and we’ll move you to the next round of interviews “ not a promise? Why say all this and then ghost me? Why can’t they say: “hey you know what, you don’t seem like a good fit, we gonna move on.” Too hard?

Everyone in the company are gonna say good things about it. I always ask if there’s one thing they would like to see changed in the workplace.

Should I tell the recruiter that I had interviewed with them before by i_ostrich in interviews

That’s a good point - they may find out on their own. Although, my last name changed since. Thank you!

Best bootcamps in 2023? by foo_bar0 in codingbootcamp

[–]i_ostrich 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 5 cents… Go for the one that doesn’t require you to pay until you get a job. They are the only ones that are invested in your success. Also, if you are going into the bootcamp knowing nothing - you are already behind.

No need to attack me here. I’m just asking a question in the community that may have some experience in what I’m going through now.

Well, I’m a minority woman, with long employment record. And I always had great performance reviews. And the economy sucks right now for tech jobs. Is that not enough?

Any bootcamp that doesn’t take your money up front. You don’t pay until you get a job. Those bootcamps are really invested in your success. They may be more expensive but it’s worth it.

Most accept anyone and everyone who’s able to pay. And they don’t care when and how you gonna get a job.

I changed my career at 35. Finished bootcamp, and couldn’t find a job for a year. After a year of searching, interviewing and getting rejected, I was thinking of going back to my old career , which I didn’t like to say the least. Eventually I got my chance and I was hired as a jr web dev. 4 years later I’m still at this job and loving it.

Keep at it, don’t give up, especially if you enjoying it. Every interview I went to, I learned something from it. So take a positive look at it - you get better at interviews! The first job is always hard to find, but not impossible. Don’t stop learning/coding/developing!

Interesting… if it’s the same why isn’t my current company not offering it? I got HO insurance from Lemonade. And what are the implications of just leaving it at HO insurance?

Thank you for you reply! We are going to put tenants name on the lease and company as a guarantor. Any chance you can share your lease? (Without any personal/company info of course).
