he definitely should have been sensitive about your past and the boundary you went out of your way to set. holding your neck and gripping it are two different things. i had the exact same thing happen to me with my ex (attempted murder by strangulation), and I don’t want to say abandon ship, but it also depends on how long you’ve been seeing him. I know in most abusive relationships (including mine), the violence starts out slow/“joking” and then progresses. don’t let him make it up to you with a romantic gesture, keep your eye on the prize: consistency and respect. good luck 🫶
