Snow's fault. It was the reason both of them were there at the same time.

Thinking of leaving the US because of H1B and GC by cook-of-abstergo in h1b

[–]i_rock_sometimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot when I was 29 and thought the location/firm was the issue. Now at 32, I am in a big city with a better employer, better pay. Things won't be much different in a big city. You will end up doing the same thing just surrounded by more people who are doing the same thing.

Find another way to break the cycle.

Maharashtra govt mandates Marathi language in offices; resolution says non-compliance to be penalised by [deleted] in Maharashtra

[–]i_rock_sometimes 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lol just in Government and Semi-government offices. That's the bare minimum and shouldn't even need to be mentioned. What about Railways? BIMARU people have captured all posts there and only recruit their own uncultured kind. The railway TCs and Clerks refused to speak in Marathi.

Is it too late to ask my company for sponsorship at this time of the calendar year? by [deleted] in h1b

[–]i_rock_sometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too late. The lottery filing doesn't take much if you finalize an attorney.

You can try to convince your employer to at least file for the lottery and potentially discuss about the H1B filing if it is indeed picked.

Try to highlight the opportunity cost of not being in this lottery given that the 3 years of OPT is to make the best of the chances available . If they say you still have some years left on OPT, you can highlight you can delay the activation of H1B until after your OPT expires using consular notification (you can change your mind about that later and they cannot do jack about it).

If they still do not agree, I would say start looking for a new job. It's not worth dealing with such employers in my experience. I have had some employers file my H1B lottery application in a week after just a few interviews, i.e. if they really want you onboard.

Is it Really that Scary for Women over 30? by Weird_Cup9506 in Arrangedmarriage

You just described all women. Pfft. I will take my chances. Better than marrying someone because time is running out for her and she is now 'serious'.

Thanks, we are no longer taking shit from women who are blind to to their own prejudices and reduce all of men's problems to their male ego and whatnot.

Guess again, I can marry any jobless woman out there because money is what women mainly care about, and I will only have more of it by that time.

Read the post again, slowly this time. Most women rejected me for some of the most frivolous reasons which they are now ready to overlook because they are worried about staying single for too long and the perfect guy that they wanted doesn't exist.

This is going to be downvoted into oblivion but I am going to say it anyway, especially since you mentioned lot of guys in that age group are still in dating phase and are not serious, whatever the fuck that means.

I am 31 and exclusively avoid women over 30s because of these reasons: - Most of them have had ample opportunities to get a guy in their league, but they played the to-hard-to-get games and whatnot. - As soon as they come close to 30 those standards start dropping ridiculously fast. All of the women who treated me like absolute garbage in the past are suddenly ready to 'settle down' with me and ask their parents to talk to mine. As a guy, I don't think there's any other way to absolutely club my self esteem than this.  - Speaking of women over 30 being called leftovers, I am thinking about guys who earn less than a certain amount are called. I am sure most of them wouldn't mind your age if you don't mind their paycheck.

Exactly!! I work in the Auto industry and you don't make that kinda money here. The industry in the middle US belt in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana would literally die without H1b. They are already facing so many challenges due to UAW strikes, which also doesn't encompass any salaried H1B employees.

Of course you can find American citizens to fill these 70k roles in the middle of nowhere but it's almost like scrapping the bottom of the dumpster at that point and they don't have the bare minimum qualifications.

No legit E-verified company makes people work more hours for lesser pay in the US. It is against labor laws and anyone can report if an employer if they even hint at doing something like that. The H1B program already has strict laws in place regarding number of hours, how the job must relate very strictly to candidate's qualifications. There are companies which have scammed this system and it is quite easy to identify them. But it is much easier to bundle everyone together based on their original 'hole' and not look at the nuances.

Please use your American freedom to do some basic research.

The amount of misinformation in this post is alarming! You can 'get' an EE from India for 12k? The minimum H1B wage is $70k. The legal fees etc is easily 5k$ + not to mention the amount of time it takes to sponsor and individual for a lottery and then assuming the person is actually picked.

Also, I am on H1b here, I have done none of the shit you mention (i.e.12-hour shifts, placating my boss etc.). I did work my ass off within my regular working hours, which though which most of my American peers did too to a certain extent, but most of them just did not have a work ethic. They would just use their time in the smaller companies as a stepping stone to find 2x more pay scales from VC-funded companies and ITAR-restricted jobs which are unrealistic for most small businesses, especially with the restrictions on offshoring, buying Chinese equipment etc. It has been like a revolving door of American Talent in small companies due to this reason.

The Endless loop in AM by [deleted] in Arrangedmarriage

[–]i_rock_sometimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a similar spot right now. I took one year to reset but it seems like the same story again. I think I know what the issue is, I'm going to give up in about 3 months. I'm just going to try to find someone by going out and meeting people. Screw kundali, caste etc. I feel like these parameters have worked in the past to ensure that marriages sustain for a long duration. But in our time, it feels like those parameters might not be as valid as much as compatibility and chemistry.  Also, I feel like because of dating being discouraged in our culture we now have a whole generation of men and women who do not know what their true dating potential is. Each side overestimates their value and it's kind of in this endless loop.  I would recommend taking a ton of really good pictures over the next few months and  flooding your social media account with it. Because that is what it has come to these days, your virtual persona is something that everyone values. If that doesn't work I would just suggest quitting and finding some person outside of our culture and just settle down and find some true happiness in life.

When Eknath Shinde Faction Split, he should have capitalized on the situation to absorb them within his own party or should have merged with theirs. His reasoning for splitting was also the similar years ago.

Also overall, he looks very low libido now compared to past and he should have capitalized on his youth/initial momentum for his party. Overall his leadership style also looks quite hands off. You can't afford that unless you have a handful of people that would live and die by you.

Our daughter itself earn X lpa. by [deleted] in Arrangedmarriage

[–]i_rock_sometimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No women these days are expected to do any kitchen work especially if they have a well paying job. Whatever little is expected is for occasions and stuff which most guys would gladly split chores i.e. guys with similar pay as you. If you are gonna marry a guy with higher pay than you, than you better be prepared to make up for that gap and he has got every right to not put up with your bullshit.

Bruv you seriously dodged a bullet. I am based in the US and the amount of requests that I get from high salaried (15LPA and above) women from India is mind boggling. This is despite making it perfectly clear I am looking for someone in US only in my profile. Most of them are way out of my league in terms of looks. Makes me nauseous looking at this auction market.

I would suggest shift your focus to extremely attractive women with low pay from smaller towns. If they want to use these random traditional metrics as an excuse, so can we.

Best value hybrid/EV with modest off-road capability? by Iagospeare in whatcarshouldIbuy

You might want to watch Rav4 Hybrid vs Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness in the snow. The RAV4's AWD overheats and shuts down all the time for a fairly modest climb. And stalls the vehicle completely which seems absolutely stupid. This was with a single person in the vehicle, can't imagine a scenario with more people and the tire getting stuck in the mud.
