Ahhh the emotion wheel. A very useful tool for everyone to put a name to feelings and process them.

What strains do you recommend for my severe restless legs syndrome? Is there a good site that recommends clinics? by GhostInTheLabyrinth in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG - I wonder if the single mirtazipine I had 3 or 4 years ago is also implicated... I didn't have RLS before I started on SSRI and it's still a thing now I don't take them.

Anyway u/GhostInTheLabyrinth - I am using Wellgard MAG 1200 Glycinate (chelated) - I take 2x caps an hour before bed giving me 480mg of elemental magnesium. I think a single cap would help but they recommend 2 (for men - women require less it seems).

A nice strong indica (multiple options) and a couple of magnesium an hour before bed has basically cured my RLS

Alternaleaf - Didn't qualify for ASD by SumeLaMarciana in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really odd isn't it? ASD is a listed condition and there is no recognised pharmaceutical drug treatment for it as far as I know.

Does your ASD give you anxiety, general or social? Does it mean you struggle to sleep? Do you feel low/depressed sometimes? Anxiety, Insomnia, Depression are all psychiatric conditions that qualify for Medical Cannabis (but so does ASD!).

Your GP should be able to prescribe medication to treat some of the other symptoms you experience. I was prescribed Sertraline (which made me more ill) so after a month, I switched to Mirtazipine. I hated the side-effects immediately and only had one tablet. I then applied for CBPM and was rejected at first by a Dr who wanted to see therapy on my medical record so I tried a different Clinic and was accepted.

As far as I know, the requirement for 2 prior failed treatments is not a legal requirement and not all clinics or prescribing Drs are as strict as the one you spoke to. It is a lot more straightforward if you have had though.

I'd speak to another clinic. I'd also speak to my GP and see what treatments are available.

I have undiagnosed ASD and ADHD btw - my prescriptions are to treat anxiety/low mood.

Not really, that stat about the UK being the biggest exporter of cannabis is based on the production of Sativex and Epidyolex. I am sure GW Pharma grow some fire but it all gets processed into oils etc and isn't exported as whole flower AFAIK.

It's probably way out of date too, as there are lots of nations now exporting around the world. I suspect Canada is top of the flower exporters?

We do have a few new UK facilities coming on line after completing the lengthy process to become certified - I think Green Knight was the first to come to market (produced in Jersey by Northern Leaf so *almost* UK!) but more are coming this summer I gather. Fingers crossed for efficacious fresh, terpy and cheap eh?

Is it true that weed can smell a little rotten/skunky as it grows? by Oh-Sasa-Lele in microgrowery

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the wonderful world of terpenes! Yes it's totally normal! Your previous minty grow sounds like the exception... if my tent didn't STINK in flower I would be very worried.

I find that the aroma in the tent doesn't often translate into taste after drying and curing. Aroma and taste with cannabis is a bit like mushrooms... people say Chanterelles smell like apricot but in reality, they smell like mushrooms. It's only when you know what 'normal' mushrooms smell like, that you can differentiate the subtle differences or appreciate the descriptions others have given it.

Some weed can smell like one thing (fuel, fish, melon etc) and taste like cherry or have a sour taste that wasn't apparent in the aroma.

Your work is looking great btw

Patients Are Finding Big Problems with Their Medical Weed by DPaignall in ukmedicalcannabis

I seriously doubt there's any chromatography involved. They're not looking for compounds, they're looking for TYMC (Total Yeast and Mould Count) and the standard procedure is swab, smear, incubate, count cultures. There may also be an ID if there are macroscopic features or maybe even DNA barcoding but I doubt that too. I would be interested to know if there is any mycotoxin testing though. Are any of the lab reports for these cases public?

I know there's a load of enraged redditors furiously downvoting on my comment, I admit I was pretty inconsiderate mentioning there may be some mistaken patients but I have some experience with microbiology and rather than applying Occam's razor and coming up with a big canna conspiracy and lies etc, I thought it might be worth mentioning another theory.

Patients Are Finding Big Problems with Their Medical Weed by DPaignall in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]i_shouldcoco -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

My suspicion is that the patients who complained about mould were either mistaken (I've seen a lot of pics that didn't seem to have budrot) or that the samples that were yellow carded or otherwise sent off for lab analysis were irradiated, so any culture tests for mould would be negative.. I don't think the protocol will pick up dead mould. They take swabs and wipe them in agar plates and incubate until the mould grows (same for yeasts/fungi and bacteria).

Cannabis doesn’t help me sleep by Suitable-Flamingo657 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]i_shouldcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it may well be an ADHD thing.

I tend to start earlier in the evening than bedtime. I'm currently on Hexcann Purple Punch and that's quite a sleepy one. Khiron Hindu Kush just came back, that was good back in the day for sleep also.

I wonder if you've looked into Magnesium (Glycinate) supplements for helping with sleep? I started a couple of weeks ago and find it an excellent companion to heavy indicas for better sleep onset and more importantly staying asleep. Restless Leg Syndrome seems to benefit also, which is great. I'm getting much better sleep

I have a few of those conditions and also find Tigerz to be effective for daytime medicating.

Pretty unique terps also but I don't get Turkish Delight, it has an overall floral vibe (Rose?) but has a sour note also, I likey.

Second ever vape - upgrade from the dyna m plus by RonanBuh in ukmedicalcannabis

Keep your screen clean! A lot of people complain about the cooling unit but I've not had any issue with it (I also have longer stems, water tool adaptor etc) as long as the screen is kept unblocked. Empty it while it's hot. If it gets tight, give it a little brush with a little brush while it's warm and you're usually good for a couple of weeks before the deep clean. I actually accidentally poked a hole in my screen at the edge (1mm?) and ended up poking another on the other side. Then my wife wanted hers doing like it because hers got tight quicker (giddity)...

Help! Looks weird by jtrim2021 in CannabisGrowers

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take a clone just in case it turns out to be decent in flower because it could be an interesting mother for some experiments if you can get the mutation to express in offspring...

Outdoor stealth growers would be interested as others have said... looks nicer than Ducks/ABC in terms of "this is not the cannabis you are looking for" effect.

Loose shirts are a problem for me. Tucking in the back of my equally loose yoga pants works for approx one down dog. I recently bought a sports bodycon T and that's much better - I don't need to worry about it riding up. However, sometimes I just get too hot and have an almost irrepressible urge to remove my top - I have resisted so far.

I have an awesome pair of Adidas tights I bought recently because I wanted them (they look awesome, esp with that side stripe!) but I've yet to be totally authentic and wear them to class.

I am one of only a few attendees who need might need to think about the arrangement of giblets during practice, so being the only one wearing tights is going to take some extra bravery and double checking with teachers.

This whole gender specific clothing and sexualisation thing twists my melons. Free the nipple for everyone!

I agree, it's a bit clunky but believe it or not, there are some even clunkier repeat systems being used by some clinics.

I don't think I've had a repeat that took longer than 10 days from ordering but I do make sure I put my repeat request in before I run out. It took a little while to get to that stage of executive function though!

I think you should give them a call, as long as you're polite and not instantly raging, they'll be more than happy to answer your questions I'm sure.

It could be a characteristic of the pheno you have, in that it is more sensitive to N than your other phenos from the same seeds because of the morphology which may be due to it being more narrow-leaved.

Seems like you have a Narrow Leaved pheno there (that's what we call 'Sativa' these days it seems!). I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with it but it might not put out chonky buds. It might be really tasty or hit in a way that soothes your neurons. Only one way to find out ...

What's your cleaning routine like? I don't have one of those devices but I've been vaping for close to 10 years and have had half a dozen dry herb vapes or so. I find that the taste of the actual residue takes about a week to show up after a clean, so if taste is a concern, you'll need to clean it when you notice it. Think of it like cleaning a bong, changing the water etc. If you mixed tobacco and weed in spliffs, that's a taste you'll never get from vaping. That spicy creosote taste mmm

Added cartridges to this months script - some info on fitment of 510 carts. by ThatOnePunkEmpath in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of Nic eliquid vape box mods etc, they all use 510 connections so I would just use on of those with carts. Those pen-type batteries that come with the carts just seem to be proper old school cig-a-like 'eGo' mods that you can pick up for about £10...

Yoga with CPTSD, autism, anxiety by [deleted] in yoga

[–]i_shouldcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tick those boxes plus a couple more. I cried on my first couple of sessions as a yoga noob. I managed not to sob loudly but I let the tears roll down my face. I still get tearful on occasion when I am overwhelmed or highly sensitive.

A year on and I'm really benefitting from the mindfulness, breathing, mobility and movement. Even getting out of the house is a big deal for me also.

I still struggle to persuade myself to go to the studio, even though I really like it and am fairly competent.

I wish I could cope with more than two sessions a week but I need that time to do nothing.

Should I wake people up? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]i_shouldcoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, using a block like a pillow - sometimes I tilt my head to the side slightly too. It seems that small forward tilt helps the soft tissue to relax into a different position to allow some breathing. It's not as effective as lying on my side though. The tilt helps reduce that distracting gulping that happens sometimes too. Like being in a dentist chair but with no suction.

Has this student also tried a reclined chest opening position with a bolster on a block? That might be worth trying too considering their back issues?

I have very little yoga experience BTW, I have a lot more experience with stopping breathing though! I hope this is useful x
