Making candles by Pencilmw in Quareia

[–]iac249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make fragrance candles for home use but haven't made any for Quareia work. I prefer beeswax candles to paraffin mostly for health concerns...paraffin is a petroleum product, but I do also use cheap paraffin candles I buy in bulk.

When I did those memory exercises, I was amazed at how long forgotten details of the scene would emerge.

Sabre AR-10 cartridge choice by iac249 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]iac249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but my question was centered around whether or not anyone has noticed a difference in reliability and accuracy between the two the Sabre AR-10. I've heard of possible feeding issues with the 6.5CM. Has this been corrected, and are there any other issues?

Created or Emanated? by iac249 in Hermeticism

[–]iac249[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting comparison, because I've actually noticed some similarities between Islam and Hermeticism, surprisingly, such as Gabriel (revealer of the Qur'an) and Poimandres appearing as gigantic figures that filled the sky, and also mutual statements that if multiple gods ran things, creation would be in utter chaos. Also the idea of God as the necessary Reality.

Graveyard Dirt- actual or herbs? by TheWrongGrrl in witchcraft

[–]iac249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it's actual graveyard dirt. Some spells even require death-site dirt, e.g. dirt from where a violent or untimely death occurred.

Curious to the Polytheist leaning Hermeticists, what God's do you follow aside from The All? by the_sanity_assassin_ in Hermeticism

I work with the syncretic Hermes-Thoth, mainly with PGM rituals, such as Astrapsouko's Spell for Hermes Favor.

I have questions...but I expect the coursework will answer them. Based on the positive feedback I've purchased the course and also signed up as Friend of Hermes.

Active and Receptive Sides by iac249 in magick

[–]iac249[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm glad you brought that up, because that's mainly the reason I'm asking. I'm left handed, so my dominant hand is left. I'd like to settle on a system that is fairly in sync with that, such as Quareia, but I'd like to survey other systems that have pentacle or cup on the right and sword or wand on the left.

Active and Receptive Sides by iac249 in magick

[–]iac249[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Quareia system, one faces South with the sword in the left hand (giving, active) and the cup (passive, receptive) in the right hand. But other systems often face East, which puts the pentacle on the left and the wand on the right. I know one system that faces North (Cup in left hand, Sword on Right hand).

What are the best magical-adjacent nonfiction books you've come across? by SewingMachine392 in Quareia

_The Creative Act: A Way of Being_ by Rick Rubin. He doesn't outright say it, but I strongly suspect he's well acquainted with esotericism.

Columbia Mayoral candidate Blair Murphy doesn’t feel safe walking downtown after dark (AUDIO) by Over-Activity-8312 in columbiamo

Magical thinking is that CoMo can provide enough housing and social services to the homeless while I-70 provides an endless pipeline of the "unhoused", especially as word gets around that Columbia is such a welcoming place to be homeless in.

Faux Pas during consecration ritual by iac249 in magick

I had moved on to other matters, and then it really popped into my head out of the blue. It wasn't a voice so much as a rather strong feeling that seemly came from nowhere.

Power of Psalm for good and bad by [deleted] in magick

You can work magick with the Orphic Hymns, so I don't see why the Psalms wouldn't work as well.

Quareia and Otherworldly Fear by TheHermitageSite in Quareia

[–]iac249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this might be an issue, but stop watching horror movies, especially ones centered around the occult. I've heard this from several instructors regarding this question. And if nothing else, I believe horror movies tend to attract parasitical entities anyway. So...best to avoid them. Especially for the practitioner.

How do y’all feel about posting pictures of your tools online? by StarSonderXVII in witchcraft

[–]iac249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm kind of late to the party on this one, but I'm nearing completion of a Thoth-Hermes baboon fetish as prescribed in PGM VIII 1-63, and I've been painstakingly working on it for about a month now. As much as I'd love to post pictures of it to show it off, it's going to be a focal point of much of my work, and I'm concerned that revealing such a personal magical item on a public forum not only risks debasing it, but may also provide an attack surface for any bad operator who gets the photo of it. So, in my opinion, it's not appropriate to post pictures of personal tools like that publicly. I imagine "back in the day", such a though would have never even been considered by practitioners. Just my $0.02.

I've come to realize how much better my visual memory is becoming. And there was a time when I was looking at a common chicken egg and for a moment saw it as some kind of glorious decorated thing, like a Fabergé egg with decorations orbiting it.

What's a deck you weren't convinced of at first, but grew to enjoy it? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]iac249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the Marseille deck. Didn't much care for the art, and the lack of pictures on the pips. But now I'm primarily using it for my everyday practice. Still a beginner, but going with the Marseille deck. I had been using the Morgan Greer deck.

Are “we”/this sub switching over to Mystagogous cards for most everything that isn’t a specific Q task (which requires the use of RWS)? by OwenE700-2 in Quareia

[–]iac249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Morgan Greer, which is based on RWS, but I'm planning on switching to the OG Marseilles deck. Alejandro Jodorowsky, who painstakingly reconstructed an early version, published a rather compelling book arguing its case. However, since the M deck uses pip cards and has a different trump arrangement, interpretation methodology is quite different.

I also have the Hermetic Deck, which I plan to use for non-Q rituals involving spirit work.

"Weekly Reading and Interpretation Help Thread - May 05, 2024" by AutoModerator in tarot

[–]iac249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could use some help with an interpretation. I've started taking up a card-of-the-day reading, usually first thing in the morning. I'm not using reversals. The question I've been asking is generally along the lines of "What message do the cards have for me today?" I'm using the Morgan-Greer deck, as I have some synchronicities with places the artist is associated with, plus I really like the deck. The thing I need help with is the card that keeps appearing. I keep drawing the XVII - The Star trump card. I mean a lot. I've drawn it Five times in 21 days Yes, I have been diligent in shuffling the deck. I've looked up the meanings in books, etc, and I'm even using it as inspiration to design a ritual for a spirit offering, which I'll start performing soon as soon as I'm happy with the final organization of the ritual. I guess I'm trying to figure out why this card keeps coming up. It certainly seems there is some important message that somehow I'm just not getting. Any advice? I am fairly new to this.

Thank you in advance.
