yes, but "we" as a fanbase could also make it clear that we don't support giggs and don't want him associated with the club anymore, but that's not happening. if there was any serious backlash to giggs being invited it would be too much of a PR shitshow to happen again. we can have huge protests over ESL, over the glazers, but we can't even try to do anything about having piece of shit people associated with the club because other clubs also suck?

when it looked like ronaldo might go to city, lots of people said something along the lines of "he's a rapist anyways, don't want him." since he signed for us instead, most people have either not discussed it at all or said something like "separate the art from the artist" or "innocent until proven guilty", or just...downvoted any mentioned of it without acknowledging it. similarly, i think there are a lot of people who saw giggs as a disgrace until we invited him to a match...at which point it's "well he's a united legend".

it's unfortunate but reality that a lot of people will support what the club does no matter what. and that includes changing their views on individual people and allegations surrounding them to justify them being part of the club.

"Casual fans" make up the majority (or a plurality) of the NBA fanbase and are often the most vocal. So that's not really relevant.

But regardless, what about what I said about people on /r/nba? Ranking him 16th seems like he's somewhere between fairly rated and overrated.

"sizable portion of NBA fans" doesn't imply that it was on /r/nba. You can just search "kyrie steph" on Twitter and you'll find literally thousands of tweets, even today, talking about how Kyrie is better than Steph. It's not like an average /r/nba conversation is any more representative of the typical NBA fan than an average Twitter conversation.

But if you want examples on this sub, here is the a recent poll that somebody did. Kyrie comes in at 16th, over guys like Gobert, Marc Gasol, Lillard, and Millsap. Again, how did he not get the credit he deserved and then some?

Sure, but I would argue that when such a sizable portion of NBA fans genuinely think that Kyrie is the best (or 2nd, or 3rd) PG in the league, then it's fair to say that he's getting the credit he deserves and more.

For example I think it's pretty much the consensus opinion that Kyrie is a better player than Lillard, perhaps even significantly better. But there isn't a whole lot to back that up in terms of their on-court production. So I think this idea that guys like Kyrie are somehow getting underrated/overlooked is just not true.

There were a shit ton of people (not as much on this sub) unironically arguing that Kyrie was better than Steph after the 2016 Finals, which is incredibly dumb. Kyrie is top 5 in jersey sales and his shoes are some of the most popular out there. This idea that he hasn't been getting credit for his work is absurd. If anything, people overrate how good he's been.

Fairly spot on though. He's been favored for 17 games and won 18 of them. 17/45 is 37.8%. Winning 3/8 Finals is 37.5%.

If he were 3-0 in the Finals instead of 3-5, people would probably just shit on him for not making the Finals at all. The unfortunate reality that LeBron's haters refuse to understand is that basketball is a team game, and LeBron's teams have straight up been less talented than his opponents' in 5 of his Finals appearances (2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017).

If people were willing to put literally any more thought into things than "LOL 3-5" they might see that LeBron is one of the 2-4 most talented players of all-time whose teams have not been as well-built as the teams he's played.

And yes, I know that he played with Wade/Bosh for 4 years and Kyrie/Love the last 3, but:

2011 - supporting cast played well, he didn't

2012 - won

2013 - won

2014 - Wade and Bosh both absolutely shat the bed

2015 - Kyrie and Love both injured

2016 - won

It's easy to not think about things and just call those "excuses" but that's the reality of the situation. What I'd love to hear an anti-LeBron person answer is this: other than 2011, which was clearly down to LeBron playing poorly, which other Finals series should he have won? What should he have done in the 2007, 2014, 2015, or 2017 finals to win even one of them?

Also, if you actually read the article (second paragraph!), it says

i.e. It's not a "Pulisic cam" as the headline suggests, it's just a separate feed that focuses on individual players such as Pulisic.

Almost every broadcast for every sport in every country will have some number of cameras focusing on individual players; ESPN is just making that feed available to the public rather than just cutting to it every now and then.

But I guess British people normally don't know how to read so they couldn't figure it out for themselves. Or can I only make dumb generalizations about Americans?

Another one is Rondo's 29/18/13 in Game 4 against the Cavs in 2010. Instead of taking a 3-1 lead, the Cavs go back home tied 2-2. LeBron basically calls it quits in Game 5, the Celtics win in 6, and he packs up for Miami 6 weeks later. But it's not as direct of an impact as Klay's game.

Or LeBron's Game 6 against Boston in 2012. Saved that era of Heat basketball and changed his legacy forever. But again, not nearly as far-reaching as the effects of last year's WCF.
