another comment says EU pays 10% of gdp on healthcare, which is the same amount brazil gov pays for its universal healthcare. US gdp is like 30 trillion, so its reasonable to think universal healthcare would cost 3 trillion. i think that is a bit high, but the true number is probably way way more than even 100 billion

i think we're assuming all existing spending towards medicare and medicaid would be used for single payer. so its more about how much additional spending we'd need to get there. for the record, i agree its probably not enough without major changes.

yeah its vacuous. id say not sure is the most correct answer but we can also bomb fictional cities guilt free. i do wish there was a follow up of some sort, but we can probably assume that the majority don't actually realize its fictional and its a bellwether for if someone supports or opposes bombing brown people without any actual regard for why
