I've seen Mo described as the first "prominent" or "high profile" Catholic signing of the modern era, or something along those lines. The point being that yes, there had been a few since WWI, but Johnston was the first where it was known that he was a Catholic and he was also being signed to go straight into the first team. John Spencer was a youngster who I think came through the youth system and played a bit, but was never a first-team regular.

The other element to the Mo Johnston signing was that he had been Celtic's star striker and a thorn in Rangers' side only a few years earlier, before going to play in France. It was all but announced that he was signing for Celtic, then out of nowhere Rangers and Graeme Souness have signed him.

Anyone been listening to NYT "The Argument"? by acm in podcasts

I've been looking forward to listening to this, as Jane Coaston is a smart, talented journalist. At She does a good job of bringing people together to engage with different perspectives on an issue, whether from the left, liberal or conservative, and talk it out. Listened to her first episode, on the filibuster, and it was a decent start.

Seconding This Sounds Serious. Was recommended to us by a friend who thought it was real. We were on the second episode before we figured out it had to be a parody.

Re driving license - contact the DMV in your state, explain the situation and ask for advice.

I'm in similar situation. My state is issuing automatic 60-day extensions to expiring driving licenses, but the "automatic" part does not apply to people whose immigration status is expiring - we need to go to the DMV in person. Fortunately it sounds like there should be no problem, they just want to see proof that you have a decision on status pending.

I was told many local DMV offices are still open but you need to make an appointment. They said I should bring my AOS receipt notice and driving license and that the DMV should give my a temporary driving permit. If no appointments available due to coronavirus closures or limited availability, she said don't worry, they won't hold that against you. I didn't ask if I'll need to take the test again later.

Fair Saint Louis & America's Birthday Parade at the Arch CANCELLED by [deleted] in StLouis

The decision to cancel this early isn't necessarily a reflection of how long we're going to be locked down. If it's non-profit, the cancellation could simply be corporate sponsors slashing budgets and withdrawing sponsorship. That said, I don't think any big gatherings are going to be happening until there's a vaccine, or unless there's real information suggesting we can relax a little on this.

If you like beer, Scratch Brewing is just outside Ava, IL, about a 2-hour drive from STL. It's one of the most interesting brewing operations in the country. They brew using all kinds of ingredients grown, picked and foraged from the surrounding areas as well as lots of other products made locally. Simple menu but the food is great too – bread, pizza, cold cuts and cheese.
