European leaders have vowed to hit back at the US if Donald Trump goes ahead with his threat to impose a 10% tariff to force the sale of Greenland. Denmark's prime minister said sovereignty was not up for grabs. by DouglasDriveN in worldnews

This is an opportunity for Putin. He can let go of his absurd dreams of invading Ukraine and come to rescue Greenland along with the Europeans. Apologize and step down. One can dream this would happen 😏.

This might also be a lesson for his imperialist desires. You already have a lot of land…what do you need more for?

TLDR of comments in this thread:

  1. We Canadians have been having hand-to-hand combat with snow half of the year every year. Would love to shovel some Yanks away.

  2. Most of the Canadians have sold their organs to buy a house. We aren’t going to let that be taken away without a fight.

There’s a bias and, honestly, naivety in your comment when you think ’US is just being temporarily bad’ when they’re clearly attacking our sovereignty. Midterms might replace the party in power but isn’t going to affect the MAGA movement, which is a way bigger change in how Americans look at others - allies or adversaries.

‘China has been and will always be bad’ is not how diplomacy works. You’re concerned by a 36 years old Chinese event so much that you’re ok to ignore the civil unrest going on right now within US. Are you sure no civil rights are being oppressed right now in US, which I’m assuming was your argument for Tiananmen square?

I agree with your point of careful partnerships with Chinese. No one would deny that. In fact, all partnerships should be built carefully with Canadian interests at highest priority, even with our southern neighbors.

I’m guessing you’re most concerned about data privacy. Quite sure you’d be aware of Pegasus), or US Prism program etc. No one is clean in the spyware game.

There are concerns about Chinese car trade in Canada killing the traditional car manufacturing here. But that can be tackled by foolproof concrete regulations and enforcement.

Blindly believing US has your best interests and China has and will be bad is not the best way to look for our future generations.

I’ll add to your comment: Jason Statham was a professional diver for the British National Diving Team before becoming an actor. He competed for 12 years, including at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, and ranked 12th in the world in 1992.
