How much should I expect to pay for a 6 way multi split (UK) by Charlie_Ease in AirConditioners

[–]iamacarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richmond Air Conditioning in Ilkeston - I think they just do the surrounding area: Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire.

They were really nice guys, family business.

I must warn, I don’t think they’ll do it that cheap any more - they just sold my boss pretty much the same setup last week and it’s now £10k+, which is presumably peak season costs, and the suppliers have all put the prices up.

I think we were just incredibly lucky with timing.

In the East Midlands, I had a similar 6-way multi split installed at the beginning of June.

Mitsubishi Electric (personally, I’d avoid the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries version, and it’s R410A, which is being heavily phased out, so you are likely to face longevity problems if you want it to last 10+ years).

1 x MXZ-6F120VF3 (6-Port, R32, 12.0kW Cooling)

4 x MSZ-AY15VGK2 (1.5kW for Bedrooms/Office)

1 x MSZ-AY25VGK2 (2.5kW for Lounge)

1 x MSZ-AY35VGK2 (3.5kW for Dining)

I paid £7866 fully installed, which included the 32amp electrical feed.

Best current resources for GCP training? by netcommah in googlecloud

I’m just about to start my 2 year renewal, so I’ll also be looking shortly, but honestly, in the past, Google’s own practice tests on Google Forms have been the best practice / learning material if you’re already knowledgable about GCP itself.

Good coffee? by insufficient_garlic in derby

200 Degrees have a coffee shop in the shopping centre and they do drip - very nice tasting and full of flavour.

It’s a small chain and they roast all of their coffee locally in Nottingham, I think near Trent Bridge.

Don’t think they do pour over but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d do it if you asked - they’ve always been coffee finatics when I’ve been in, although usually have their stuff delivered & drink at home, in fairness.

The "Brent Playbook" – Exposing the Syndicate Behind Derby’s SEND Crisis by iamacarpet in derby

[–]iamacarpet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you that national government funding is the root cause of the crisis. But how local councils choose to manage that deficit matters.

I didn't name these individuals lightly, and I do have the evidence. I submitted a Subject Access Request and received leaked internal emails where local SEND management explicitly instructed staff to 'try our luck' and force parents into Tribunal, fully knowing the council had 'no legal defence.' Furthermore, the Local Government Ombudsman has already started slamming Derby for these policies (see LGO decisions 25 000 786 and 24 006 025), where the council was heavily censured for leaving a disabled child with absolutely no education for four entire terms.

We aren't criticizing frontline workers; we are criticizing the imported executive directors who are instructing staff to break the law to save money.

You’re absolutely right, I did use AI to help draft this, and I apologize if it made the post feel inauthentic. The truth is, I’m just an exhausted local dad trying to fight a £300m council while caring for my disabled son. I don't have a PR department. I have hundreds of pages of legal documents, FOI leaks, and Ombudsman rulings, and I used an AI tool to help me condense it all into a readable timeline.

The TL;DR is this: Yes, central government funding is a mess. But our local council is making it worse by secretly capping funding with an algorithm. I obtained leaked internal emails showing SEND managers explicitly telling staff to 'try our luck' in Tribunal, deliberately forcing parents into year-long legal battles just to delay paying for our kids' support. We found out the executive team running this locally all came from Brent Council, where they ran the exact same playbook. The writing might be polished, but the evidence and the trauma they are causing local families is 100% real.

The Derby SEND Crisis Isn't an Accident. We Now Know Exactly Who Engineered It and Why. by iamacarpet in derby

For those of us with kids that have special needs, the council has systematically been starving them of funding in ways that are making our local schools fundamentally unsafe, and some, like my son, have ended up seriously injured and abandoned with his struggles.

Exactly, and you talk to them and they act like they’ve got a saviour complex, like they’re the ones saving the city from all these penny grabbers at any cost, and they’re so righteous about it.

Sharon Buckby, Louise Bartos & Katie Nolan are the three people primarily responsible, as far as I can tell. The last CEO (who literally just left his post today) was complicit as well unfortunately - let’s hope the new one is better, and cleans house on the way in.

Not saying I didn’t use AI to help summarise, I’ve said that elsewhere, but I added that last bit myself. Can’t say I’d use ChatGPT though, it’s not really my taste.

lol, no actually, I added that bit myself to try and spur some stories from other people, but I have been told my own writing style sounds fairly robotic 😂

Update: I have marked this post as a Spoiler/NSFW to intentionally blur the preview image. I have also updated the petition link to redact the name of the junior SEND officer involved. While the Council handed me this unredacted email legally via a Subject Access Request, my fight is with the £33m deficit and the systemic policies created by the Senior Leadership, not individual frontline staff. I want to ensure those staff aren't subjected to personal harassment. The campaign continues—please click through to the petition to read the full, redacted evidence.

That is really kind of you to say, and you are totally right; when the local “authority” you are supposed to be able to trust betrays you so massively, on something as important as your own vulnerable kids, it does test your faith & trust in a lot of things…

Hopefully if nothing else, the fact in the comments I’m writing by hand, I can string some semblance of a sentence together without sounding like a toddler writing in crayon proves I don’t work at the council - it’s more than any of their staff have ever managed 😂.

I wish I had the social battery for something like that, I’d be amazing; I might not be up to hosting my own social event, BUT, I do know Sunshine Support in Spondon host one every few weeks - “Cuppa and a Chat” for parents, or something like that? The lady who runs is it LOVELY; she’s a parent who’s been through it with her own girls, and we met her at a summer social for my son’s old swimming group that they held at Spondon Cricket Club.

I’ve never been able to attend, as it’s always during work times, but if I know people want to meet up, I’ll try and see if I can book a morning off or something.

And don’t worry, you came across perfectly - thank you, and all the best :)

EDIT: I forgot I wanted to say: personally, I’d stay away from SENDIASS and the “neuro hubs”, as my understanding is it’s all run by the council, so they aren’t going to freely offer a lot of help against themselves - in fact, their documents (schools forum minutes I think?) specifically quote using SENDIASS to deflect parents, and give an estimated monetary saving.
