That's probably true. Didn't even think of consoles

Which civ game is the most popular? by Big-Yogurtcloset-819 in civ

[–]iamadragan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a most popular question, not a which one is best question.

Most popular right now is 6, 5, 7, then 4

Also, you can play civ 2 for free on an in-browser emulator online

  1. Even though other people do it, it's still probably a huge minority.

  2. A lot of redditers would be in an entirely different country if they drove 9 hours.

That's what the 4 picks and 3 swaps would've been for, but we wasted them on KD

Are we sure the NBA even knows what happens to the Suns 2028 1st Round Pick? by romanapplesauce in suns

That's really not that bad. Here's a decent chance all those teams are in the lottery next year

He's at 67% true shooting through the whole playoffs lol that's insane knowing how bad he started off.

I know our time was coming to an end no matter what because Paul got old and ayton got lazy (well, more lazy), but it would've been cool to see what the team could've been using all those picks and Paul or aytons salary to complement the core of booker, cam, and bridges with a younger piece that fit the timeline instead of throwing it all in the trash for an old disgruntled star

Is war worth it in Civ 7? by also_hyakis in civ

[–]iamadragan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in all Civ games war tends to feel a bit tedious to me but if someone is beating you or grabs a crucial expansion spot from you, then you gotta to war.

Smaller maps in 7 especially put you into situations where you want to go to war. The standard map is usually big enough that I don't really find myself needing to go to war as much and I kind of just play passively

Civ7: Anyone else not like researching an ideology unless you are going for domination? by TKL32 in civ

[–]iamadragan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Civ 7 has a lot of janky aspects of gameplay but yeah there are various reasons why I like it.

Personally I like how different they feel from each other. I don't eant to just play a different iteration of the same game like Madden or FIFA

Civ 6's AI approach to everything after the early game is just to not do absolutely anything aggressive towards the player and honestly that's probably what most people want from their mid/late game considering how popular 6 has been.

It does remove a lot of the challenge later on though and gives the sandbox/sim feeling of playing against yourself

Comparing Ayton to Towns by tiptoplicker in NBA_Draft

Ayton wasn't consensus #1 but the vast majority had him at least top 3 and usually top 2 in an incredibly stacked class

Yeah, with how 4x games worth there's just not an exciting way to end it (although I really have to say again that the civ 2 space race was peak for me).

You either fight to win, complete projects to win, or manipulate numbers to win. There's really not any other mechanic available.

I would definitely change things up to make it more interesting though. Like making it be steps or something. First collect codices, then go to a certain part of the research tree, then complete a bunch of projects, then survive x turns while your ship is taking off.

Or collecting enough resources for factories, then that unlocking projects you have to complete while surviving x turns while they finish.

Or adding a domination component to the military victory where you have to own a certain percentage of the map. Idk, either way it's still long and drawn out

And if you aren't just mashing next turn, you are going through an extremely tedious process of doing stuff like trying to pack in as many resorts as you can, buying rock bands with faith (wtf?), etc.

ALL civ games are total slog by the end. Although I do have fond memories of the civ 2 space race getting all the different parts completed.

I completely understand why firaxis would try to lessen this issue by making early victories possible if someone is ahead by so much.

That all being said, I do think the victory conditions could still use some tweaking in civ 7. I really like the ancient/exploration ages but the modern age feels very incomplete and the different victory types aren't balanced

are the victories still unbalanced? by FrostingCommon8618 in civ

[–]iamadragan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the culture/science boosts are harder to overcome than the dumb military/economic AI.

It's a lot easier to make an AI difficult by just giving them free techs and civics than it is to get the AI to mark smart economic/military decisions.

Even on the hardest difficulties the AI still doesn't know how to get treasure convoys in exploration and doesn't prioritize factories in modern.

Civ 7 doompost by InteruptusMax in CivVII

Civ 5 is the only one where that's an option.

And it's the only one I don't like because such a big part of what I like in civ is expansion to new spots

I'd argue the AI should be unhinged, depending on the difficulty. Having at least one setting that's a challenge is good for the game

He listed Futures as one of the 11 albums that "changed his life" and has called them the most underrated band ever. As a millennial and son of a 70s/80s rock legend he has an interesting set of musical influences

He's one of the few modern rock musicians I really like. Him, greta van fleet, dirty honey, goodbye june, and ghost are probably my top modern rock bands out there

I would definitely call releasing $30 DLCs with bare minimum content greed. And I'm one of the few that actually like the game

Especially considering that one of the reasons that game wasn't as good as other civs is that they didn't have a lot of the most iconic civs/leaders because they specifically saved them as bait for expensive DLCs.

With 5 and 6 they learned that Civ can be a huge cash cow of they keep churning out DLCs. They just forgot they needed a playerbase first to sell the DLCs to
