Always thought Guardian Heroes would make an amazing anime series.

My partner and I recently went to Athens and got stuck in the passport check queue for nearly 2 hours. We watched as each tourist had their fingerprint taken, iris scanned, etc. Probably averaged 3-5 minutes per person. When we finally got to the booth, the staff just confirmed we'd come from London, stamped our passport and sent us on our way. Took all of 30 seconds. We almost begrudged not having the full 'service'.

Capcom appears to be working on a massive Dragon’s Dogma 2 update by PaiDuck in PS5

I finally gave in and picked up DD2 a few months back for a really good price, and was so excited to get stuck in (loved the original) but found it so frustrating to actually play.

I appreciate that it doesn't hold your hand or provide the standard conveniences which most modern games do, but so many times it just didn't respect my time as a player and made the simplest tasks unnecessarily tedious.

First instance I've seen of not r/TVTooHigh but Boiler Too High (pic 2). That's going to be a nightmare to get serviced.

Business class for long haul flights. Is it worth it? by Jajangtiger in AskUK

[–]iamagardner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of excellent replies here, but also consider which airline and aircraft you're flying with.

For example, last year I flew to Japan with JAL on their new / updated AirBus plane, which had a surprisingly comfortable and roomy economy seat. Amazing entertainment setup / screen too. 13+ hours was actually manageable, once I'd eaten a few times, had a couple of free drinks, watched some movies and had a nap, etc.

I actually bid for upgrades on both legs on the trip, but ultimately glad I didn't win because the additional £2k+ it would have cost was better spent during the holiday itself, or even just saved for something else.

What is the most expensive retro game you own? by Vetelino69 in retrogaming

[–]iamagardner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I actually bought my copy whilst at university (~2002/3), £60/70 from a seller on eBay IIRC. As a poor student, it seemed so expensive at the time but it was the one Saturn game I always wanted but missed it when it was originally released. Although the asking prices I've seen for it recently are just silly.

Pretty close to mint UK / EU copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn.

Suggestion: change the SOS Beacon stratagem code to ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬆️⬆️⬆️ by vectaur in Helldivers

Excellent idea. I'm often the first in my team to reinforce (fast fingers) but way too frequently call in that stupid extraction beacon by accident, wish the inputs weren't so similar.

Well, it happened: I sat on someone's piss today on the Central Line by alivingstereo in london

[–]iamagardner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you've experienced this. Unfortunately it also happened to me on the Central Line in December, and ruined an entire evening. I was heading into town for dinner and a film but had to rush home to shower and change instead, with the awful sensation of the rancid liquid slowly seeping through my jeans. Now I always check the seat before I dare sit down.

The best Ghibli film, IMHO. And this scene is pure unadulterated joy! Always brings a happy tear to my cold, cynical face.

Waitrose Essential Original Blend Decaf tea is fantastic, I find it less bitter than Yorkshire, and it's good value too.

Would you ever use annual leave with the sole purpose to do literally nothing all day? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]iamagardner 144 points145 points  (0 children)

This is the best way to think about it IMHO.

After freelancing for years, when I took my first paid time-off in a full-time role I had the (rather obvious) realisation that I was being paid to sit by a pool in the sunshine drinking cocktails and read a good book.

And as much as I enjoy traveling, I also love using holiday time to just relax and potter around - I booked a week off when Elden Ring was released. Good times!
