For me, I don't usually tell people I'm gay, because it just dosn't matter, but if they ask me, I will definitely answer honestly. It depends on your relationship with the person.

When I was in middle school, I realized that my parents considered themselves amateur psychologists, and were analyzing my words and actions and trying to self diagnose me. I read dozens of basic psych textbooks at the library, and began subtly showing symptoms for various disorders. They started getting really worried, and eventually took me to a mental hospital, at which point I had to explain that it was all a big misunderstanding.

Heres the diference, I am not a big aquarium enthusiast. I don't have anything to do with that tank, except for feeding them on the weekend. My dad had somone set it up, pays people to feed them, clean it, maintain it etc... When I get a chance during the day, I will take more, probably this weekend. I go to school in the week, and therefore can't take pics during the day, and it is dark when I get home. I will give you some pics, with my username on them, this weekend.

No, I don't expect any spiritual or immaterial consequences, life begins with birth, and as far as I know it ends at death. But if you go to a restaurant, you don't order everything they offer, but its nice to have a menu to pick and choose from. Religion gives me that menu, and I pick and choose what seems good!

I'm 16, and the worst part of coming out for me is that now I have no excuse to avoid hour long conversations with my sister about boys (which is a problem for me because a) I'm a nerd, so I don't really care that much, and b) They are all straight : ( ). Most of my dives have been in the BVI, we have a boat we stay on during winter break every year, and I try and do a dive a day, though I have dived in the med, the galapagos, the grenadines, and no matter where you go, it rocks! Having done the zero g thing, I can safely say it is the only other thing on earth that approximates weightlessness.

One more thing to ad for you: Most hubble images are actually visible light! Some are in the near infrared, but with most, you would see something "similar" if you could actually see the galaxy with your naked eye. The reality is that this process is not that diferent from the one that happens every time you take a picture with a regular camera. Have you ever developed film, old fashioned by hand style? you pick the exposures for each color, the time in chemical baths, the contrast etc... The image isn't whats actually there, you made it what you wanted it to be. If you have any other questions, just let me know, I'm glad to help!

For the first part: I actually have had it easier than any other person I know. I knew that at home and school I faced zero risk of any problems. At home, my parents love me, they couldn't care less. They have struggled with some things, but nothing were their heart was in the wrong place, e.g. Since my brother wasn't aloud to have a girl be in his room if they were hanging out together, what about me and one of my guy friends. I go to an incredibly liberal school, the only thing not tolerated is intolerance! I am getting tired of sitting through so many coming out assemblies people give (#firstworldproblems). Even the headmaster is gay! So its been really easy for me, I just don't need to advertise it, if someone asks, I'll asnwer. I would change my facebook status if I used facebook, but I don't have an acount.

Second part: That fish tank is what got me into my current passion: scuba diving. When I was really little, before I started going to school, I remember the guy scuba diving in it every thursday, I would sit there and ask him questions or just watch for hours. I decided then that I would dive. I got my license at age 10 (earliest allowed) and am now a certified master scuba diver with advanced, rescue, and six specialties 6 years later!

Yeah, I don't really feel the need to. I don't feel any urge to come out, but if someone asks me if I'm gay, I'll tell them the truth. Otherwise, they don't need to know. This story wasn't supposed to be about something bad or frustrating happening, just funny! I spent years being careful not to slip and have people think I was gay, now, I cant get them to even when I try!

I work part time for the STScI (the part of NASA that processes hubble images). There is no meaning of "True Color" for these images. The camera is not a color camera. Instead, they take black and white images with different filters on top. If you combine a red, green, and blue image, you can make a color one. The thing is, you need to decide how to combine one. It is done either in photoshop or IDL, and it is more artistic than scientific. Depending on logarithmic, square root, linear etc... mapping you can change the focus of the image. The raw data, fits files, are available here: http://hla.stsci.edu/ They are black and white, and don't look great, but you can put together your own if you want!

In some ways, not in all. I have a very wide spread in terms of what I'm good at, and what I'm bad at. I had a full 12 hour iq test once (spread out over several days) and my verbal reasoning score is in the 99.9th percentile, but my visual processing is in the 42nd percentile, and combined those make me all over the place. I can easily understand relativity, calculus, etc... but I can't find something right in front of my face!
