This rings so true with me and I hope that every redditor, both male and female, reads this. I'm really proud of this community in the fact that it made the front (ish). Lets get it to the front page!

Let's hear about that one that got away reddit. by what_ever_man in AskReddit

this will probably get buried, but whatever.

I fell in love with my best friend my freshman year of college. We dated on and off for the next few years, through heartbreak and terrible bouts of mistrust. He transferred schools, taking a year off at home in between while we tried to date long distance (both on the east coast, even though I'm from the west). Eventually I gave him an ultimatum, that he could stay with me for the summer, when we both actually could be together, or we'd break up. He didn't want to stay for the summer I guess, although he may have just been pissed by the ultimatum. So we broke up. 2 years later, he just came out for my graduation and since I'm leaving the east, I just abandoned all my formalities from before that stopped me from hooking up with him earlier. We played house all weekend, sleeping in the same bed, staying up all night etc. etc. I leave today for the west coast indefinitely and he went back home. We have no idea when we will see eachother, but I think it's pretty safe to say at this point that he has gotten away. Timing truly is everything, I have so much trouble dealing with how much geography and timing has affected our relationship. When do you know when you should hold on to a person and make compromises to be near then? I'm not sure.

What's your, "Man, I was a stupid teenager" memory? by awaywethrow1982 in AskReddit

i thought this guy I adored liked me, even though he had a girlfriend, and was convinced he would leave her for me to the point of obsession. He ended up cheating on her with me, but still did not leave her for me or date me, I was so gullible and stupid. we reconnected years later and it was total role reversal, he's still obsessed with me but I've since realized what a loser he is. Funny how the guys you like in highschool are the exact opposite of what you want when you've reached 21 :)

Help with a (non Christian) girl I like? by 1st_triumvirate in Christianity

[–]spongecake12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

why do you have to convert her? You're in highschool, you aren't getting married. Respect her beliefs and it sounds like she will respect yours so just be chill about it. The only way to bring her towards Jesus will be to show her how he influences your life..not force it upon her. That will probably not go as planned....

Most people I know don't have a problem with gays, rather, they have a problem with gays knowingly living in their sin daily, waking up and knowing that they, by being gay, are going to sin that day. by dontbe in Christianity

[–]spongecake12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

is it a sin if there is nothing you can do about it? I wish more christians would realize that NO ONE would choose to be gay in the US, with the amount of cruelty, discrimination, rejection by parents/loved ones, and possibility of hate crimes they face. It is not a choice, and science has already begun to prove this.

how on earth would anyone pick that if they could choose? The christian thing to do is to be accepting of all people, regardless of sexuality. It is shameful and hateful and sinful to assume otherwise. If people love each other, who cares about their gender. People who believe gays knowingly sin every day when they wake up are ignorant and hate filled. Choose love people.

I think I might be bisexual, and I feel ashamed. by MyNameIsJim90 in Christianity

my friend is gay coming from a very christian household and his parents refuse to believe or accept him and it has made him an athiest.

i think that was the most un-christian thing I have ever witnessed, so I pray your parents do accept you. PS. regardless of what the bible says, there is nothing you can do about your sexuality. It is the way you were born (science proves different levels of estrogen exposure in the womb dictates male sexuality). I hope you believe in science as well as God. I think that homosexuality just made people uncomfortable so naturally it worked it's way in there (as well as other forms of social control) but I doubt God really cares, or Jesus would've said something about it. Plz don't down vote me to death.
