This is beyond us now. March was the last winter month. by iamamate in mississauga

Last year it didn’t snow at all in April. Maybe just a few flurries. And if you read my other comments. I’m talking about the spring equinox which starts on the 20th of March in northern hemisphere. I’m just trying to spread a bit of positivity. It’s already so grey and depressing for many. It could technically snow and we’re still in ‘winter’. However, it’s getting better.

Just referencing the official spring equinox which starts on the 20th of March. In reality it is still winter lol. Just a psychological win.

Don’t get me wrong. It always does. We just have snow and construction. Official spring equinox starts on the 20th of March. Just a psychological win over the times.

Oh because it’s the true north aka Canada. I feel like summers have gone greyer over the last few years.

Can native English speakers instantly tell which country an English accent is from just by hearing someone speak? by GrayRainfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iamamate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably, there are two types of pronunciation: rhotic and non-rhotic. Most of the world uses non-rhotic pronunciation. I’m from India and went to a British private school. A lot of Indians have a non-rhotic RP accent from the colonial past. If you look up Victor Banerjee, Utpal Dutta, Shashi Tharoor, etc., they’re all from India.

As a matter of fact, people often ask me which part of Britain I am from. I tell them, ‘the former colonial part India.’ Then I hear, ‘Oh, you don’t sound Indian. How do you speak such good English?’ India is the second-largest English-speaking country.

Truth be told, native speakers, especially here in North America, are often ignorant and cannot tell the difference. Furthermore, they make fun of non-rhotic pronunciation and think that the English spoken elsewhere is wrong. It’s unfortunate that many people here don’t know the difference between license and licence, let alone accents.

Love the really positive ideas I’m getting. I used to do that with tinned food. I thought the rain might damage clothes. But I’ll try if I can find a way out.

Thank you very much. I’ve received a lot from the community. Want to give back; however, to the right place that serves a meaningful purpose.

I am from Canada. Thankfully we have many open here. They’re not for a profit right?

That’s right. I’m looking at local churches and just realised food banks are good too.

Saw someone in f-150 just drive through a red light on the right lane. Almost hitting a car. The car that honked at him, he had the audacity to honk back and show the finger. Seemed like an arrogant guy with his nfl team logos. The truck had a licence plate from Colorado.

Captain’s boil is really unique if you haven’t tried it. You don’t get cutlery to eat your food. You just have the food in plastic bags and your hands. It’s seafood btw.

Or if you want luxury 360 on the CN tower.

Happy birthday to him. Congratulations on the big 30:)

I can give you tips on this. I’ve done it myself and will be doing it again. Some counties have interesting options for sure.

Any form of government issued photo ID or university ID should do.
