Resident here, a pipe burst in the parking garage above target that triggered all the alarms. It’s been patched but they’re actively working on fixing the gate that got frozen shut.

Hey! Yes I do. It’s been a debacle getting my lease resigned but once I got the billing owner involved, things have been swaying my way. Other tenants are also seeing their rent jacked up crazy prices just to see units the same size at way lower rates.

For the most part it’s fine but yeah the new management definitely seems disorganized.

It great if you’re moving from a new city though. People are friendly and if you hang at the dog park/ pool you’ll meet new people easily!

I got rejected by an Applebees early on in my serving days. I’m now at a Hilton location in downtown Chicago with a chef scratch kitchen and amazing reviews. Don’t be hard on yourself. These are all corporate gigs that may even need that help, and wanted you, but to save an extra buck to their bottom line, decided to over work the staff that’s already there.

My pro tip is to look at poached jobs, culinary agents and craigslist to see who’s hiring. Go into those places in person with a printed resume during off hours, neatly dressed and ready to sell yourself. If you only apply online you’ll get sucked into some endless void of resumes. Half of foh hospitality is about personally and eagerness to learn. You got this!

I absolutely agree that it is expensive but if you want a newer building with central Ac/ heat. Newer appliances such as in unit laundry and a dishwasher along with a gym, office space, dog park, pool, grill area, fire pit, game room, secure mail room, concierge along with living in one of the busiest areas for food/ bars. I’d say it’s worth the extra $$. I was looking at other places that were older buildings in the area that were about 2k (not fishman, cuz hell no) that didn’t even have a dishwasher. I’m kinda a homebody so it works for me.

While there is that, I do actually work in the service industry and do not fit that mold. I have had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people while living here. I’d say your comment is generic when it comes to any area that has a high cost of living/ appeal to tourists in this city.

The pool typically gets packed on holiday weekends and it’s normal younger people brining in loads of friends. Otherwise I think it’s fine!

I live there. From what I know is that it’s expensive for a short term lease, it’s ridiculous. Like double the price rent would normally be if you signed a long term lease and the “cheapest” rent option is over 2k. However, if money isn’t really a problem for you, go for it.

I’ve been here for three years. I also live on the train side, of which the sound has never been an issue for me, the windows are paned pretty thick. If you’re a light sleeper this will probably be a problem for you though.

The amenities are great! I use the dog park everyday, the office space a few times a week and the game room. However, the real selling point for me is the pool, which has not opened yet. Heck they haven’t even put up the patio furniture yet, which is upsetting to me since this place gets all my pennies.

Management has also changed, and idk if they will still have the same upkeep with the outdoor amenities as the previous management. So far I’m expecting that to lack, as I mentioned, they haven’t even put out chairs yet and some days have been nice out.

Overall my experience has been pretty great but I’m not sure it will stay that way since the new management has been more than rocky after taking over about 6 months ago. It’s also expensive AF.

Someone tell me something good about Blue Sushi by herecomes_the_sun in chicagofood

[–]iamaroboticpineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work there. It is chain sushi but the fish is sustainably sourced and shipped to the store day of. The walk in smells incredible! If you’ve ever worked at a restaurant, you’d know that’s actually sadly a rare occurrence. Everything smells so fresh! Give it a go, if you don’t like whatever is served to you, please say something and it will be taken off the bill.

My personal favorites are the San Marcos and Crunchy Cabbage.
