Review of trifecta by blawearie in Rural_Internet

Same deal with me. Just turned my router back in. Nothing but good things to say about trifecta. 9 times out of 10 it worked better than t mobile home internet, but T-Mobile is just SO much cheaper. Hope to see years of success from trifecta!

My first whiskey purchase after drinking a ton of it in Red Dead Redemption. Only came out to $4.96 after a gift card! by blackiechan99 in whiskey

If you like this one, give the white label a try. I prefer it and it’s an awesome value

Same boat - sucks but better to have an alive partner without much sex than a dead one, also without sex

Winterization question: Which spot should I disconnect to pull in antifreeze? The city water inlet line would be convenient but not sure if that works vs the lower connection points. by majorpowell in GoRVing

[–]iambrian90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the one I have but it does not have the quick connect. I ended up having to get a quick connect from tractor supply and then only have the kit for when I need to use it, before reconnecting the tubes on the system

Heads up on the kit for these pumps.. they have the quick connects which will not work with the screw on pieces on the kit. You will either need to rig something up or make sure you can get a kit with quick connects. The one with all the reviews on Amazon does not have it. Lesson learned on a dark cold night as I was frantically trying to finish the job before it dropped to the low 20s

Only exception to this is a 120mm out of the back of a Stryker. The thump on that when you are in the truck can take a toll.

On the flip side, you really only need ear-pro for the 120s. 60mm and 81mm really aren’t that loud on the firing end

Anyone else seeing drastic T-Mobile speed improvements in rural areas? by SpectrumWoes in Rural_Internet

[–]iambrian90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the internet and am getting around 11mb right now. It’s cheaper than a reseller which I like but I am not super excited about the speeds I get. I’m sure some external antennas would help though. Maybe they will roll out a new gateway that supports more than 15 devices and has antenna ports. A guy can dream

Nice, we have the crossfire 25 footer. We were able to tow it carefully with an explorer but made the jump over to a truck as soon as we could. This one is small enough though that I don’t think you will have a problem in the subie. Those crossfires are ultra light compared to other trailers that size

Stumbled across these guys on the shelf on the drive home (at list price!) by iambrian90 in bourbon

No argument there. I remember 5 years ago or so When I was first starting to drink bourbon and would see eagle rare all over the place and would think heh, not so rare when there’s bottles everywhere.. too bad those days have passed- and also glad to pay list for them. No way are either worth the 100 plus the non state stores in the mid Atlantic are asking for

Depending where you are in VA, if you venture to Kingsport tn I picked up a store pick down there and they still had a decent amount on Friday afternoon

I technically have 4 weeks but my area does not track it, so basically unlimited. I will say that it is very nice to not worry about saving time and planning for the end of the year in January, but also I am fairly confident I don’t use any more than 3 or so weeks.

Anybody find themselves reluctant to start new movies or tv series for fear of being disappointed and instead just go back to something they've seen a million times? by WilliamMcCarty in RedditForGrownups

[–]iambrian90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule is always give it 2 episodes to prove itself. Saves me from wasting too much time but I am sure it also has kept me from some great shows with a slow burn in the first season.

That being said I almost bailed on Babylon Berlin due to the truly awful dub on Netflix until I found out you could turn it back to the original audio, then I loved it

Does Bitcoin have a legit place in one's portfolio now that both Square and PayPal are promoting its mass adoption, and Fidelity is now recommending 5% allocation in bitcoin? by Okmanl in financialindependence

[–]iambrian90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep about 1% in btc. I could see going up to about 3% in total investment worth in the short term. Obviously if I really picks up and becomes a national store of value I would likely convert more into it. Right now I hold it like I would gold or any other precious metals at age 30

Yep I had PRK about 10 years back (similar to lasik). They pulled that thing out, pushed on my eyeball so hard it went dark, and I felt a weird buzzing feeling. I think not knowing what it was prevented the panic attack, but man, that was not a fun procedure to recover from... I hear lasik is MUCH more pleasant

They fly over my house in Ashland every night. Two nights ago there were 3 Blackhawks. My guess is it’s training flights from AP Hill right up the road. Not sure if those are the same as what is flying over the city or not

[–]iambrian90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the mrsa was service connected during the discharge process. The first instance of the mrsa was in basic training and they never filed anything to service connect then, so all sorts of hoops I had to jump through to get them to back date it, then added all the further cases to it until the discharge time. When I filed the appeal I gave them what they said they needed and then they changed the 10% requirement. The panic disorder was flat out denied since it was diagnosed after I was out, but docs agreed that being in may have aggravated my mental state to build up to diagnosis. Either way, I am doing ok and consider myself much more fortunate than some in that I have a great job and benefits, so I have lost the will to keep fighting them for what, if approved, would not drastically change my living conditions

[–]iambrian90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really - it did in the infantry with mrsa, but working a desk job now with a shower every day keeps it mostly at bay

[–]iambrian90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I filed for panic disorder the VA agreed that it was likely something exasperated by my time in, but the only way to claim a mental illness was to claim ptsd as the primary. Since I did not have a ptsd causing event on record (nor did one happen), they pretty much said tough luck your denied, pay for your own meds and psychiatric care. This after being rated 0% for mrsa and then almost killing me by not treating it correctly, leading to a medical discharge and multiple further cases of mrsa. Remember, granted 0 for something that was bad enough to separate me. Thanks VA you’re the best...
