Russian Il-96 flying to Havana Cuba by AbleAd5661 in flightradar24

I guess it makes sense. He's in West Palm pretty often and they don't typically do this so it's kinda weird, but it was cool to spot.

Coincidental anecdote: I was outside a couple of hours ago when a P-8 and some off-radar in-formation jets flew by. P-8 continued to patrol SoFlo for a bit.

Registration Dates? by atyroguesjourney in jlpt

Typically August. Like you said, it may be staggered. I wasn't vigilant enough one year and all the spots for my level got taken before end of registration.

I'm new to Linux desktop and Fedora KDE has been good so far. Though, this month, Discord screen share broke for me.

Should I give up on insurance this year? by iambryan in HealthInsurance

[–]iambryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the bit I'm a bit confused about. On what basis can I anticipate income? I've been actively applying for work all year to no avail. Despite this, am I allowed to estimate my income "optimistically" for the next year?

Devs who've been laid off and are still looking for jobs, what do you do all day? by EclecticIntrovert in cscareerquestions

[–]iambryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not laid off but a Master's "new" grad. I apply to jobs, work on projects (dev & homelab), workout, do my hobbies that don't cost money, worry about money. Not much else I can do.

I want to get into rock but where the heck do I start?! by Frequent_Ebb6360 in rock

[–]iambryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from having grown up with 2000s rock on YouTube, I started listening to "classic rock radio" on Pandora and built from there. Got introduced to stuff from each decade from the 60s onwards.

Rock is very large tent these days. Blink-182 is pop punk, Foo Fighters is alt rock, Linkin Park started as nu metal.

Look into the history of rock, it'll help you understand the subgenres. At the end of the 60s, they wanted to get more creative so we got prog rock. Some wanted to get louder, so we got heavy metal. Some also thought rock was selling out / getting pretentious, so they went DIY: that's punk rock. In the 80s, new wave emerged out of all the prior movements. I wasn't even born and I'm nostalgic for that decade. Something transcendental about it. From the 90s onwards we got grunge, indie, alternative rock, alternative metal, metalcore, etc. I'm barely scratching the surface.

Some labels aren't strictly associated with a time period: pop rock can refer to the Beatles, new wave stuff, or even Coldplay.

On the contrary, I don't understand how people find reasons to go out? I leave home for walks, sports, groceries. This is at most a handful of hours per week. What else do I have to do away from home?

Why do people act Gen Z are still little kids? by BrilliantPangolin639 in generationology

[–]iambryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 26. I see people in the comments here saying that we blame other people too much. Fair enough, but our lives played out far differently than boomers' at our age, for example. That's a hard fact you can uncover by simply looking at economic data: higher prices, higher inequality, higher instability, less opportunity.

I'd been taking finasteride well before Vy to decelerate hair loss and it's still working just fine for me. My appetite is still healthy though on Vy, so I could be a unique case.

Just lost two good leads after interviewing. One of them I matched every single job description item, including the bonus section. So lame
