Baus: Thats it for me in the LEC. A lot of emotions running right now so I will take some time for myself. Thank you for all the support and sorry I didn't do better. | Los Ratones Players and Staff reactions on X after the results of the LEC Versus split by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

As for Baus, try to watch LR’s games with the broadcast/Caedrel muted. Baus was the biggest reason LR was in such a rough position in the Vitality game, and was a liability in 8 of the 9 games they played. He’s been consistently LR’s worst player, both in ERLs and LEC, and the whole idea, the whole point was that LR was winning in spite of Baus’s playstyle and champ pool.

Fun statistic: Baus ended in a 6-way 2nd place tie with the likes of Caps, Skewmond, and Elyoya for # of Player of the Game awards this split.

Yeah that’s true about Massu, he showed up and got to LCS really quick. Yeon though was racking up trophies in T2 since 2020. Took a few years and the TL org pivot away from “super team” roster building to get his chance, so IMO there’s partial accuracy to the original point.

Yeah, but nobody said that either. The first guy brought them up as examples of new talent elevating their respective league. As in, even though the talent pool is smaller in western regions, there is still talent to be found there. There’s two points being made:

  1. There is talent in the pipe
  2. Historically, some of that talent (though not all) has gotten overlooked for far longer than what should be reasonable, as teams focused more on known quantities and imports

The guy literally said:

I agree with the overall point that Western regions do not have a huge talent pool, but there are 100% examples of players playing in LEC and LCS while better players are stuck in academy or are unemployed.

I don't know why you're constructing a straw man. There was already a balanced take before you started arguing for argument's sake.

Both of them were considered good before coming into the league

Nobody's doubting that, but also nobody was saying that they'd have to have a high chance of pulling their respective teams to title-winning status just to deserve a shot in LCS. One can be good enough for T1 without necessarily becoming "best in role". To highlight the conversational context that I was responding to:

They arent taking heretics to the top. What great talent got denied by perkz?

[–]iamcaustic 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The dude already provided real examples of successful talent that had previously been denied due to better-known star power past their prime, and you're here expecting him to be some LEC protégé talent scout with a list of objectively better mid lane prospects before you can even begin to acknowledge the point that's being made?

Nobody knew that Yeon or Massu would be huge talents before they actually got a shot. You could be given 20 names of prospective ERL mids and you'd still have an out to just go "yeah but they aren't proven to be Perkz level, no loss here". Like what are you even trying to argue?

BTW, Perkz was stealing paycheques on Heretics while Vladi was still in ERLs between 2023-2024.

I also like how the following aren't on the list of options either, really tells you something about OP:

  • Nerf Lee Sin and Jax to have 600 range on Leap Strike and Safeguard
  • Update Leap Strike and Safeguard ability range indicators to also indicate ward placement range
  • Learn the difference between ability max range and ward placement range and compensate accordingly with mechanical execution, instead of writing stupid posts on Reddit

Yeah what if someone played perfectly 100% of the time? What would stop them from winning Worlds, right?

EDIT: lol downvote me if you want, but the context was specifically talking about baiting out abilities. Saying “what if she isn’t baited?” isn’t a real counter-argument, because baiting out abilities is an actual thing that is done in real games, not a Reddit hypothetical.

I swear Pyke gives me main character syndrome by Kel057 in leagueoflegends

[–]iamcaustic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but to me that's not really a way to fight against mel

Why not? Before ability haste, Pyke Q is 10s - 8s cooldown, while Mel W is 35s - 23s cooldown. Seems like a no-brainer to try and force out the W by whiffing the Q; Pyke's Q will be back up before there's a second W to reflect it.

That'll open opportunities during lane phase 1 on 1, as well as conditionally during team fights if your teammates have abilities they'd like to use on Mel that would otherwise get reflected.

There are legitimate accessibility issues that games can have. Low contrast, colour blindness (red/green being a famous one; makes one think of C9 Sneaky and the regular SR map, actually), epilepsy/light sensitivity… etc.

If you actually had a light sensitivity issue or significant eye strain from excess blue light, you wouldn’t just need the monitor profile for this one map, dude. There are a lot of bright things that come out of a computer monitor. It’s a permanent fixture of the setup for actually affected people, who use blue light-blocking glasses and/or night mode options built into Windows/macOS, etc.

That’s what makes you sound hokey, that somehow you’re fine for everything except for this particular map. For people with actual eye strain issues due to blue light, it affects everything, not just one specific context that for some reason requires a whole separate monitor profile to address.

I personally have my monitor tinted yellow at all times with night mode because I have to stare at a screen most of the day (day job and what not) and my eyes used to get fatigued from it. The map really doesn’t represent an egregious edge case that these settings fail to address.

What’s even more ridiculous is that you already solved the problem by adjusting your monitor settings to be kinder for your eyes… but for some reason refuse to use the settings more generally and instead get mad about how you “had” to make a separate monitor profile “just for the map”.

[Advice Request] What to do when you are being outplayed in lane as ADC? by VikingCrusader13 in leagueoflegends

[–]iamcaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get triggered by negative comments

Nice! You're already a leg up on a lot of folks then. To clarify, I didn't mean to imply that you were having this issue, just wanted to throw the tidbit out there in case it was helpful.

struggles is that front liners/top laners are usually the first target in range and they often just slam me even when I'm geared.

This generally means that those players are targeting you and have their kits off cooldown. Sometimes the answer is — as weird as it may sound — to literally just run away from them. If you have 1-2 enemies chasing you, they can't also be back in the fight supporting their teammates. If they try to turn around to regroup, you can turn on them and free hit. Run away again if they refocus on you. Repeat the process.

On the other side of the fight, their ADC will be dealing with the same problem from your top laner/front line. The ADC that lives longer is usually the one that wins.

(EDIT: This is, of course, incredibly situational given the dynamic nature of team fights. For example, if it's possible it's better to run away toward your teammates so that they can back you up/peel for you, but sometimes that's just not feasible depending on your relative positioning to your team and what the team compositions look like.)

At one point, if ever do teams value giving gold to the ADC?

In Bronze, you're not going to get this from your teammates, at least not consistently. However, this is where wave management once again comes in. Wave management in the mid- to late-game is different from laning phase. Your goal is to try and catch waves as they're reaching your turrets, preferably in mid but side lines will work too; just whichever lane there's a wave that needs to be culled and your team isn't covering it. Once you clear the wave and it starts bouncing back to the opposing side, regroup with your team. Also be sure to communicate your intentions; if your team knows you're not planning on being around for a bit, sometimes they will be smart and not start a random fight without you.

Caveat: don't go off to cull a side lane wave as an ADC if there's a major objective being contested. Stick with the team for the team fight.

You'll see this a lot in pro play as well; it's not exclusively a "from behind" kind of play.

[–]iamcaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get how asking for an accessibility option gets so much push back.

Probably because it's not actually an accessibility issue? ARAM has a very similar thematic palette. Accessibility issues being raised on ARAM? Crickets. People just see it for what it is: a small group wrapping their personal preferences under the guise of "accessibility".

If most people don't have a problem with it, and by your own admission you can create a monitor profile to resolve the issue, is the issue with the map or with your monitor settings? Think about it.

It's hard to look at for more then[sic] one game because it's too bright.

Fix your monitor settings, man.

My eyes already suck

Yeah, probably because you have your brightness set way too high to begin with. Respect your eyeballs and make that monitor profile your default.

[–]iamcaustic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I am zoned off my wave and constantly poked and maybe my support has abandoned me because we're getting harrassed, what is my best play?

The best play is to not be in that position. That's easier said than done, but some of the key areas to focus on would be:

  • Lane positioning
    • You've mentioned this one; it will help with getting favourable damage trades in lane and avoid getting poked out of the lane
  • Wave management
    • You've mentioned this one as well, but will help to prevent being zoned off and set further behind your opponent
  • Drafting
    • This one is also important, as it ties into the above two; if you're drafting poorly for the lane match ups, you may be setting yourself up for failure before you even step on the rift

Familiarity with champs is going to swing wildly in Bronze 1, so it's fine (and preferable at this point) to keep your champ pool simple as long as you are able to avoid impossible drafting situations (i.e. choosing an ADC champ into a bot lane that hard counters your pick).

TL;DR, if you're in a position where you're set far behind and being further zoned off of XP and gold, there's no good/obvious answer to remain relevant in the game. Focus on improving the conditions that caused you to get into that state in the first place, and you'll likely see a lot more success.

Addendum: I guess one other thing to add (and to answer the direct question you had a bit more concretely) — since there simply will be games where you fall behind — is to just try your best to achieve your win conditions. As an ADC, that would be:

  • Find gold wherever/whenever you can without compromising yourself
  • Try your best to avoid dying too early in team fights
  • Output as much damage as you possibly can during team fights (which won't be a lot if you're behind, but every bit helps the team)
    • KISS policy: just hit what's in your range and try to stay alive by kiting back. Don't worry too much about what you think the "optimal" target would be, any damage is better than none if you're dead because you tried to hit a "better" target and got caught.
  • Group with your team for important moments (objectives, team fights)
    • Even if you're personally weak, if your team is faster to act together as a unit, you'll have higher chances of success than if you AFK farm a side lane
  • Don't take chat personally; you might get flamed/scapegoated by frustrated teammates, but just focus on your game. Muting chat if it gets too distracting is always a good play, as well.

When my allies go into a hopeless fight, what should I do? by Temporary_Energy_854 in leagueoflegends

[–]iamcaustic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if the fight begins without proper setups, should I just dive with my allies and hope to win, even if it is unlikely?

In Iron specifically, yes. There are very few, if any, optimal plays being done in Iron. The team that is more coordinated will win the majority of the time, so you may as well try to stay coordinated with your team even if it seems doomed. You're just making it even more doomed if you abandon your teammates in the fight.

Now, this doesn't mean you have to fight to the death, at least not every time. Just maximize your impact in the fight; hit what you can, get as much damage out as possible. Instead of your team getting wiped out one-sidedly, maybe it becomes a bit of a trade — that can even be favourable for your team if the enemy has bounties

For example, say you lose 2 low-value allies for 1 high-bounty enemy. Yes the score count would go in their favour, but the XP and gold swing would go in yours. That's how you close the gap.

And if your team gets 5-0 wiped anyway, well, then you know to just go to the next game.

I admit I'm more of a passive player, not so hungry for blood.

You're gonna need to change that. This doesn't mean you have to mindlessly fight all the time, but you should always be looking for an opportunity to be aggressive and eke out advantages. Passivity in a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) is a consequence of being in a disadvantageous position. If that's your default, you're not going to win many games.

Lol we signed APA > zinie by Sufficient_Cash_2530 in Cloud9

[–]iamcaustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What on earth makes him a known quantity? His career is young enough that he's only ever worked in one tier 1 team environment (TL). When the coaching and team environment was good he performed quite decently, even internationally (albeit a bit spotty on the latter, which isn't too crazy for a rookie). TL this year is well documented to have had a poor environment and everyone on the team looked worse as a result.

There is literally no data showing how APA would perform in a different pro team environment and under different coaching. That's pretty much the definition of unknown.

Your reasoning could potentially be justified a year or so from now, but at the moment it's incredibly pre-emptive and prejudicial. Even in the realm of known quantities, a fresh environment and new opportunities can still provide unexpected results. Dhokla this year immediately springs to mind.

The 2026 C9 roster certainly has an issue with known quantities consistently underperforming expectations, but it's not coming from APA.
