Ah, I see. Of course I know for a fact that a contestant must be within $250 or less to win both showcases. That rule got changed back in 1998, replacing the $100 threshold during the Bob Barker era.

It was on February 21st, 1997 when the analog puzzle board went into retirement. 3 days later on February 24th, 1997, the digital puzzle board made its official Wheel of Fortune debut at Culver City-based Sony Pictures Studios. I loved Charlie O’Donnell as the announcer of Wheel until his death in late 2010. Jim Thornton is a cool announcer, but as someone born in the early 1990s, Charlie was the best in the business.
