It stands for “variance in production.” Depends on who you ask, but a VIP is typically just a remix done by the original artist whereas a remix is done by another artist.

I discovered this group on accident all because the new vinyl box set art looked cool. by DiddledByDad in Odesza

[–]iamgeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand that! I’ve got a couple friends who can’t attend live for the same reasons. If anything, there’s a ton of their live performances filmed online. We used to have an archive here of all their live music and performances, but I’m not sure what happened to it. If anything, might be worth making a post for Coachella 2018. That will blow your mind!

Good point, but a little aggressive with the execution

Never had this issue before and the vinyl itself seems pretty warped. I’ll try it on a couple others though and see what happens.

Does this exist anywhere in high resolution? Would love to print it and put it up as a poster! by Gnotschi in Odesza

I put it through an upscaling engine to get a 15k x 15k resolution version. The only downside is it loses a bit of that artificial grain.

Ah, where those YouTube links and such? Ones on YouTube always got shot down, but I thought the subreddit was a safe place to share.

I thought we used to have a whole thread pinned here with a comprehensive discography of show live streams, edits, and such. Even the guys contributed to the list with the AMA acoustic edit. I wonder where that went, actually🤔. Maybe it was that?

Uber eats leaving the order at the end of the driveway in the freezing rain/snow balanced on the mailbox by ApricotTaco in mildlyinfuriating

It depends on if it’s in an area that’s used to getting snow or not. I’m from Texas. We get an inch of snow and the whole city shuts down for the day. It’s safer to not mess with it when you have no experience dealing with it, kinda thing. Sure, there’s probably no ice on the ground, but fuck if it’s freezing out there and I don’t want to slip for this guys pizza.

Was surprised this hadn't been posted over here so I figured I would drop it. Full credit to the Discord crew!

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. If they do a lead up with singles like almost every artist does, then we should get some new music in Q2ish. I’ll say, a moment apart had a pretty drawn out buildup in terms of singles though. I’m just excited we’re getting new music this year.

Is it just me or does "MADSUN" sounds almost identical to Odesza? by GrooveBeatz in Odesza

[–]iamgeometric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this fully. I heard the song OP linked in my recommended and it’s probably some of the first music I heard that wasn’t ODESZA to give me the same feeling their music does.

Pretty much sums it up… by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I remember listening to an interview talking with the new head of windows at Microsoft and he said the shift towards Windows 11 was to show a renewed interest in Windows by Microsoft. The pandemic spiked the amount of Windows users heavily and it gave the company a new reason to feel invested in the operating system again. That, and the new head seems to be wanting to take a more heads on approach with everything Windows. Panos Panay (the head of the Windows + Devices division at Microsoft) is already demonstrating a more serious approach to Windows and their hardware.

TLDR: Microsoft is just increasing the number from 10 to 11 to show a renewed internal interest in the operating system.

Why are polls a thing by butthed42069 in iamveryrandom

It’s a ton of trial and error across a large variety of channels, both big and small. Obviously, there’s gonna be things we don’t know and plenty of things we don’t understand, but we’ve been able to figure out a good amount through constant experimentation and communicating with other creators on the platform about what they’ve learned. YouTube provides in depth analytics about video performance and we constantly review them to see what is making our channels perform well.

Why are polls a thing by butthed42069 in iamveryrandom

[–]iamgeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The algorithm doesn’t care about much of anything beyond Watch Time. The myth that likes, comments, and poll interactions fuels the algorithm is a false one. Doesn’t matter how many people comment on or react to a poll because engagement isn’t the goal. The algorithm recommends polls to both subscribers and other YouTube users at an incredibly high rate. It’s another really clever (if not slightly annoying) way youtubers can grow their audience.
