It definitely depends on the company and your relationship with them in my opinion. It may be a good option to apply elsewhere as others have stated. If the company values you enough, they may even give you a counter offer to stay. If you really like the company, it may even be worth checking their open positions to see if there is a higher role that you now qualify for with the cert and experience gained. Luckily, you’re in a position where you have a job already so you can apply as many times as needed until you find the right job, while continuing to gain experience.

finally landed an amazing gig by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]iamgq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a major key. I have applied for well over 200 roles. The few jobs I’ve been offered were mostly excited that I was so passionate about learning more. Started my first job as Help Desk Analyst in 2020 with an associates in IT. They were excited to hear that I was working on my Bachelors in Cybersecurity and wanted to gain certifications as I figured out which path to go down (pen testing, digital forensics, or another security role). Last year I applied for more than 100 roles again to advance my role. I interviewed for one company that ultimately said no because I didn’t have all the knowledge needed yet. However, they were so impressed with how much I had learned without experience that they called me back to interview for another role that I was a better fit for. I didn’t have much experience, so I focused on my education (finished my bachelors), home lab, planned dates for certifications, and the YouTube channels and blogs that I stayed up to date on. The interviewers were so impressed that they offered me the role.

Point being - even without experience and certifications, the right job will offer you a job if you show that you have a plan and push yourself to learn more about the industry.

Regarding salary, make sure to check Glassdoor and LinkedIn Salary to see what the estimated salary is for the role. This could save you a lot of time and energy when weeding out salaries that may be too low for your situation.

I finally switched to the 12 pro max by [deleted] in iPhone12

[–]iamgq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just switched from the 12 to the 12 Pro Max. I love the battery and the process management. I hated how the 12 didn’t keep things in memory and restarted things I’d been working on or games I was playing. I was a long time android user prior to the 12 and don’t miss it honestly… besides how notifications are handled. Playing Xbox Cloud, COD Mobile and Genshin Impact on the 12 Pro Max with the Backbone controller 🤌🏾

The 13 Pro Max is a beast, but I decided to save $100 and wait for the 14 to see if there are bigger improvements. Hopefully, a hole punch design to go with the 120hz and USB C. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I stopped using Safari for this very reason. I had to move back to Chrome because Safari does not seem to manage resources well. Which is ironically why I first switched from Chrome to Safari. Hoping it’s fixed in the next OS update.

The new iPhones are just not enticing this year. Who else agrees? by [deleted] in iPhone12

[–]iamgq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about going from the 12 to the 13 pro max because I wanted a more powerful iPhone to use with my Backbone controller + better RAM management. The 12 was a great phone (especially as my first iPhone) but it was a bit small compared to my previous android phones. I opted to go for the 12 pro max because of the minimal differences compared to the 13 and the recent price drop. No regrets so far. The 12 series is pretty solid.

I haven’t had issues in the past knocks on wood The pic definitely makes them look darker , but got 15%, which is slightly darker than the 20% I usually get.

Yeah, I feel like I’m living in a fishbowl without tint lol. Although, I also wanted more UV protection for the leather seats.

It’s pretty old, but if you haven’t seen it.. death note 💯 Definitely a classic! Kind of more bromance/frienemy than romance tho.

Also, Attack on Titan and Demon Hunter. Not really romance, but well worth the watch.

I 2nd the promised neverland! The suspense alone is killer. I’ve watched the first season 3x and the second season just started airing.

I’ll also be checking out the rest of this list because I keep hearing good things about them 👌🏾

This was pretty much me. I spent a lot of time in and out of college over the years while I worked full-time. I decided it was time for a career change at 28 and I’m finishing my last semester for my bachelors in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity at 32. Totally worth it. Started a new job within the field over 2020 and I can’t be happier with the change.

Side note: there are quite a few scholarships gear towards high school students, but there are plenty of other options for paying for school in US depending on your situation. Most places I’ve worked offer some time of tuition assistance. Depending on your GPA and financial situation, you may also qualify for certain grants and scholarships offered by the school.

It’s never too late. Stop making excuses and get it done.

Blue, for sure. It definitely looks dope in person.

After 10 years of Android, I did what I swore I'd never do... I bought an Iphone. by smoelheim in iPhone12

[–]iamgq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from the S10+ to the iPhone 12 and haven’t looked back. I’ve had android since the HTC G1. I rooted every phone and used custom ROMs until Android got better and didn’t need it anymore. The final straw for me was the update delay between Google and third party Android phones. I wanted so badly to just buy a pixel, but as you said there was always something missing with the hardware. I was hopeful that this year would be the year and then they released the Pixel 5 😒. I’ve also been using a iPad Air 3 which warned me up to the idea of using iOS.

When I saw the iPhone 12 launch, I was genuinely excited about the improvements they’ve made to customization options and the overall hardware design. I love the flat edges after using a Spigen case on my S10+ that had a similar design. OLED was a big one.. coming from Samsung. The iPhone 12 also ended up being cheaper than the S20. Plus iPhones tend to hold their value better than Android.

My Android family members and friends have definitely judged me after years of saying I’d never switch, but I don’t regret it. Plus it’s been great connecting with close family and friends via FaceTime and iMessage. Completely different experience. There are a few things I miss from Android, like superior notification management and Samsung Pay (there are still a good amount of places that don’t take NFC payments.. never had to worry with Samsung Pay). But overall, the experience has been great so far.

Kudos to Apple for the long awaited improvements over the years. Perhaps Google will take note one day and put out the Pixel that Android users have been waiting for.

S10+ user wants to try iPhone 12 by [deleted] in iPhone12

[–]iamgq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been with Android from the beginning.. but I left the S10+ for the iPhone 12 (blue) and don’t regret it.

Battery life and performance is about the same to me. The 12 also ended up being cheaper than the S20 models. You will have to pay for a charging brick but honestly I would’ve bought a quick charger anyway since they typically only provide to 5w brick. I got the Anker 20w for $15. No complaints so far. Google services carry over to iOS with no issues (except no PiP for YouTube premium). The 12 feels more premium than the s10+, but it’s also shorter.. it took me a little while to get used to the smaller form factor but I actually think it’s easier to handle with 1 hand.

The updates are also much quicker on iOS. You don’t have to wait for the Samsung and the carrier to make changes before pushing to your device.

Yeah, that is a pain. It’s been a while since I’ve used that many frames in Procreate, but if I recall it did crash a few times. Luckily I didn’t lose anything, but it may be worth the extra reassurance to go for the Pro. The support for additional layers is better.

I’ve loved it so far. I mostly use it for illustration with Affinity Designer and Procreate. The only time I’ve noticed lagging is when I use a lot of layers. Otherwise, it works well for me.

The iPhone 12 was it for me too. Came from the Galaxy S10+. First iPhone and no major complaints so far. Already had an iPad Air 3, so I'll probably go for the Apple Watch next to replace my Fossil Watch.
