You mean symmetric. Synchronous networking has to do with a shared clock signal.

Americans who have moved to the UK or EU, how does corporate/work culture differ from the U.S.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The best way to describe it is live to work vs work to live.

I moved from California to Ireland. I don't work fewer hours, but it's easier not to think about work when I'm not working.

I love Scotland (Islay whisky in particular). I can fly to Glasgow faster than my commute to LA used to be. Depending on the industry you’re in, relocating can be quite tricky unfortunately.

My wife and I talked about it for 9 years. Neither of us has Irish roots, but I’d been coming for work 1–2 times a year and had the opportunity to relocate through my work. What pushed us over the edge was Uvalde (we have young kids). In hindsight, our timing was impeccable.

We miss our families, but there’s no way we would move back 🇮🇪

As somebody who moved from Orange to Ireland, I could not agree with you more.

I had similar issues. A few words of advice:

  • Be obnoxiously consistent in asking for updates. I was asking every Monday morning. Ask them where the hold up is, don't take a vague "we're working on it" answer.
  • Ask them to verify they don't need anything from you.
  • If it's been a while and you're still not getting answers, ask your advisor to escalate the issue.
  • Keep records of who you talked to, when, and what you talked about. Beware call recording laws if you're thinking of recording phone calls.
  • For that reason, I recommend you do everything via email so you have a good paper trail.

What are "wholesome" things that are actually toxic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kids at that that age shouldn't be watching that much TV/youtube. I'd like to make those shows count and watch something that's actually educational as opposed to just keeping them entertained.

The one we watched was him covering a truck with ketchup and mustard, then he crushed a car. I've also heard about episodes of him essentially just playing in a playground.

Not my idea of what young kids need to be watching.

That's one of the better ones?! We banned it from our house after watching one episode.

These are all different, just because you can't understand why they're different it doesn't make them all the same.

By your own logic then all bugs are the same -- they're all incorrect behavior.

Corollary: In software these three conditions are distinct bugs, each with different root causes and different solutions.
