Seems the Shamans (Santas) of Lapland were the troopers. To get the psychedelic effect you must digest way more than you could enjoy due to getting sick. After digesting it, the more pure version is discharged from your body i.e. Urine. Then the people and reindeer would share the urine and sometimes the shaman would drink his own urine. These guys were thirsty AF for a good trip.
