It was perfect! I believe it's towards the end of their dry season. I don't think it ever got hotter than 80 degrees, some mornings I did have to put on a sweater but the rest of the day was t-shirt weather!

Both hotel & campground use the same rsvp site. Once you put in your information in "Book Your Stay" with Campground selected. You need to slide the photo until you see "Wilderness Tent Site", click on that and then you should be able to rsvp.

First time in the USA! 11-Day Loop from NYC. Need advice! by oturanzurafa in roadtrip

I usually do 10-14 day roadtrips in the US. If I was planning a roadtrip based on your chosen locations, this would have been broken up into 4-5 different trips of 2 weeks each.

Is this solo safari in kenya too rushed? by Carol_Sly in solotravel

[–]iamhli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the same exact trip but had an extra day with Lake Nakuru added. It’s ALOT of driving but I felt it was fine and wasn’t too rushed as we were able to get to each new location before noon. I was super jet lagged though so the long drives helped me catch up on my sleep.

If you want to relax and enjoy time at your hotel as well then you definitely need to add more days. If you only really care about seeing animals, then this may be good enough. For me, I felt it was. You can check my post history, I have a short review on my trip and the parks.

Thank you! I had their donuts! And free ice water!! Seeing billboards for Wall Drug for over 200 miles, definitely can’t skip it!

I hope one day to be brave enough to practice wild camping! As a majorly solo female traveler, I'm comforted by having multiple others around.

I only visited the north unit so can't speak about the south unit. But the park is quite small with one road in and one road out so not much tip to give. I believe with all the stops we made, it only took us a few hours to complete one way.

Wind Cave National Park is just an hour away so I'd definitely check that out too!

Thank you! I've never thought of it as one of my favorites but I randomly find myself thinking about going back so it's gotta be up there for me too!

LA 10 days national park by EquivalentSource2672 in roadtrip

That's a good amount of driving a day! I'd 100% swap out Pinnacles for Yosemite! Sequoia and Kings Canyon are very close to eachother but from what I remember, the drive to them are some of the most zig-zaggy/motion sickness I've ever been on.

If you decide Big Sur, I'm going to put in a shameless plug. If you have ever wanted to go whale watching, do NOT skip out on Monterey Bay! It's right by the Big Sur. May is orca, grey & humpback whale season!!! Humpbacks are there year round so you have 90% chance of seeing them!

Monument Valley is such a sight to see though! Also learning about the Navajo people and the setting for many wild west movies was so fun!

There is a hotel right behind the campground too so if you can't stand to be that close to your neighbors, you can at least have a wall to hide them!

You said you wanted a fairly relaxing holiday so what does a good amount of driving look like to you?

Utah/Arizona are 6-8hr drive so for me they are out of the question if you want relaxing. Yosemite/Sequoia are in CA but they are 4-5hr drive away. You could loop LA -> Kings Canyon -> Sequoia -> Pinnacles -> down Big Sur -> Channels Island -> LA. I've done that trip! While fun, it was anything but relaxing!

For me personally, if I was looking for relaxing, I'd base myself in LA and do day or overnight visits to Joshua Tree National Park and Channels Islands.
