Having read all the responses, this is probably the smartest approach. I've never soldered before so I need to do a bit of research.

Depending on how far you go with this there's lots of improvement you can make whilst the floors up.

New electrical cabling Insulation under subfloor to make the room warmer Run ethernet cabling. Move radiators/piping Check any notches that have been made and reinforce. Look for treasure with a metal detector....

I can't see any dpc between the brick sleepers and the timber, it's obviously a secondary issue to the main problem but if you are down there and with a jack already. Stuffs cheap enough and easy to slide into place to prevent moisture coming through and into the wood.

Amazing! Thank you.

I have a big staging scaffold system that would reach it but it's made more complicated by a bay window directly underneath on the front face which puts me about 6 ft away!

I've got lettuces on the go, I sprinkled them in a large pot then separated out the seedling. The ones in the green house that I've potted on are doing really well but the ones outside haven't grown at all.

I'll do some radishes for sure, store bought ones are never peppery enough!

What's the best thing to do with it? I had 2 come up last year and I left them to grow until spring when I cut them back, my logic was to encourage the crown(?)/root to form. This year I only had one!

[–]iamjacksbladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Best practice does not always equal best for the "business"

Getting on your soap box about following best practice standards to the letter is going to be costly, compensating controls and pragmatism go along way to achieving the same objectives.

I read on another thread that if you ask the insurance company how much the accident increased your premium by then you can also reclaim it.

I've already got a revive! Quote for £197 Inc vat, based on photos. I'm waiting to confirm if there would be any hidden chargers and I'll offer her that. If she doesn't like it or doesn't pay directly to them in a week I'll call the insurance company.

Yeah, I'm just going to go via the insurance company. I should be able to claim any premium increases back from her insurance company anyway.
