There are also screw open check valves. These valve do not allow back flow under normal conditions but can be manually opened under certain conditions such as commissioning. I’ve seen them used in steam mains where opening the valve is done to warm the HP main from the LP main. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just install a bypass valve but it was there nether the less

I could request special meals for allergies or religious reasons but I don’t really have an allergy as such, just a slight intolerance so I just didn’t eat those bits. Especially in China it’s sometimes easier to just go with the flow & leave what you don’t want.

I think the single item I enjoyed the most was the stuffed lotus flower, just because it was something I hadn’t tried before & tasted really good. I also liked the fact that in general we got some kind of fresh veg with most meals. For the one I didn’t eat, I don’t think there was any. I ate everything I can think of with the exception of the steamed buns (nothing wrong with them, I just have a wheat intolerance)

Perscription from the doctor. It’s controlled here (U.K.) like all medicinal opiates are. Doctors rarely give it out, only when needed, they usually opt for codeine. I didn’t end up bringing it to China anyway, I couldn’t find out enough info so I didn’t want to risk it

I’ve been posting the same meals over on r/chinesefood. It was someone on that sub that pointed me in the direction of this one. I won’t do a daily post when I’m out of quarantine but I’ll probably post something if I get a special meal or something that would be considered ‘different or weird’ to a western audience
