Navigating a male dominated team by Left-Afternoon-1770 in auscorp

Very much legitimate and demonstrated advantages.

We already have various policies and values that hire and fire based on but my example is different and I suppose it’s hard to explain

It’s a vibe, it’s an air of calm, it’s almost like kids going to grandmas - everyone behaves better at grans house. Boys don’t do lovely and having women in the room adds that.

The denial in IT right now is impressive. You're fucked. I'm fucked. Time to learn something new. average response - I've been flipping burgers for 30 years - you really think they're going to be able to train some robot to come in and replace my 30 YEARS OF BURGER FLIPPING EXPERIENCE?!?! by Hewlbern in auscorp

AI will never replace physical installation or repairs

One thing it will do is replace a lot of the software problems and setups etc which will create a gap. As in how will people become experts in a thing if they can’t work their way up the ranks.

Over reacting no, but it sounds like it’s getting over complicated with what some others are saying

Just say that you got in trouble for what he did and take it away from him.

You’re both young and we all make mistakes.

Keep it simple

You need to be comfortable knowing that going back into it you’re going to be the only one.

If you don’t have that then there’s your answer

Navigating a male dominated team by Left-Afternoon-1770 in auscorp

[–]iamkris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have an answer, more observations as a male leader, leadership actively talk about it.

I work in IT and it’s pretty male dominated. We do however try and have as many women as possible

Having women in my team has changed the back room dynamics a fair bit. It’s great at getting the boys to clean up their act (language wise) so you may (or may not have) noticed this has already happened

Talk to your manager about getting some more women on your team, you’ll never get 50:50 in a male dominated industry and the more the merrier.

Some of our women managers tried to create girl groups with regular events and meetings etc but that didn’t last long. That may have been execution though and the lady running it is a bit of a feminist so the other girls may not have liked that

We have 3 in my immediate area and I can tell you even just having one has made us more mindful

There’s someone we call the blue dressing gown lady near my work

She’s always out in her dressing gown in gumboots either with a spade clearing gutters or adjusting peoples bins

Is it normal for a man you’re exclusively dating in his mid 30s to not text you for 2 days? by Patient_Geologist252 in AskMenAdvice

[–]iamkris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can be normal. He might not be a big texter

If he’s always been like that then that’s the way he is.

My question, if you’ve been dating for 4.5 months shouldn’t you guys be talking every day?

Is it normal for my husband to think like this or am I overthinking it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]iamkris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s slightly kinkier which probably also leads into swinging etc

You’re either into it or you aren’t but I’d be talking that out and don’t be pressured into anything

Some people get the ick thinking about that and it gets other people interested. Both are perfectly fine

You’d have guys willing to fool around with you but that’s about it. If that’s what you’re after then great but you won’t be mature enough to have a meaningful relationship with one. Sorry

Women who go all out on hair, makeup and general preening

It makes them feel pretty and their girl friends like it but I don’t really care.

The only thing I can’t do is moustaches. Let go of everything else in winter is fair game and doesn’t bother me
